if money is a issue then i would wait. a monitor will last longer and will be with you through more computers then a video card will. also keep in mind not to go too big or else you'll be spend more money on a more powerful card to run your games on it.

my Dell 24" wasn't by choice, it was a xmas gift from my gf. i was planning on getting Dell's 2007FPW (same res as 22") since then i wouldn't have to upgrade as soon and keep my X1900XT256 for another 6mos or so. but eh, i'm happy with my 24" :D

i now have a 8800GTS 640 and couldn't be happier.

Yeah sorry I didn't mean you can't up the voltage, just that running at a lower voltage would be better because of heat issues. I had my previous OCZ Gold DDR2 ram running at 2.1v and they got blazing hot. Although I never really had stability issues it was hotter than i liked. My current ram at 1.9v runs noticeably cooler to the touch.

If that ram is Micron D9 as someone else suggested then for sure get those cause I've heard they OC like crazy.

So...Are you saying that I should be thinking about a 20" or a 20.1" LCD instead of a 22"...???

If that is the case...then i would basically be lengthening the life of my GTS.

The Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory I want has a rather effective heat spreader so heat shouldn't be a problem.

Also, Crucial is owned by Micron, so....the IC's used on all the Ballistix are Micron D9. I think the ones used on the Tracer is handpicked so that's even better. I've read reviews on these and they get to DDR2-1000 with ease and even up to DDR2-1100. My CPU will max out before these babies. :D

all lcd sizes of 20", 20.1" and 22" all use the same res: 1680x1050

so 1 of the 3 would be a good pair up with your GTS320.

So I guess I should buy based on price and performance then...

I know this is off topic but what is the best (also, the larger the better) LCD monitor between $150 - $250??

SAMSUNG 226BW Black 22" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen

That is exactly the monitor i want but I just wanted to know if I could save some money on my purchase.

Another thing to note, is that I've heard of a panel lottery going on with the Samsung monitors...Meaning that not all of them are using the same LCD panel and hence not all of them are the same quality.

I really like that one though, I've been dreaming of it. My 17" CRT is a Samsung and I've had no problems whatsoever with it. Good, clean, bright colors but an LCD is another story.

I just wish I had the money to get this one like right now though.

You really should think about upgrading your display. My roommate has a 320MB GTS and a 17in CRT and also plays at 1024x768. I have a 640MB GTS and bought a Dell 24in LCD (1920x1200) to replace my 19in CRT when I upgraded my PC. When I watch him play games on his tiny 17in and then go into my room and play the same game on my 24in it's such a big difference in terms of the experience. You 'see' so much more detail in games and it is much more immersive. With 22in widescreens being so cheap now (under $300US) i'd consider that as your next upgrade. Sure you will get less fps at 1680x1050 but you will enjoy gaming a lot more.

Yeah, and even @ 16*10 with the 320MB version you will still get a great experience even with crysis more than likely, but you may simply have to forgo aa-af and use medium high settings. nothing wrong with that to be able to see it on a 22" LCD. the difference as compared to the 640MB version that that same res is that with the 640MB you would have high settings (for sure) and medium af-af with very slightly better FPS. If you were to use the same exact settings in comparing the 320 to the 640 GTS with crysis i'm guessing that the FPS differential would be around 5-10 at best. The real benefit would be to increase settings without as much of a penalty on the 640MB.

Well, that's good to know that Crysis won't suffer a 'Crysis' due to my video card.

Look on the bright side....If I don't end up with enough money to buy a better monitor....I can max just about anything @ 1024x768.

The instant saving deals on the monitors are finished. The Acer is now a full $50 more @ $290.

I need to stop coming to AT and going to Newegg....I'm always broke and I just still want everything...:(
