What will a standard issue gaming PC look like in 2030?

OK guys, polish up your crystal balls. What do you think a typical desktop gaming PC will look like in 2030?

I'm imagining something that looks like this:

128 GB of RAM
8 TB of SSD storage
32 Core AMD CPU, running at about 5 GHz
A graphics card capable of running 8K games at 120hz
A small form factor case that easily fits next to your new 75" 8K TV, or inside your self-driving electric car :)
Support for dual 4K VR/AR
About $1,100 in cost, cheaper if it comes bundled with a StarLink adapter or Verizon's new 6G broadband adapter

Honestly, most of that technology exists now. The only thing gutsy about my estimate is the price tag of it.

Oh, and it will probably come with Windows 12, whatever that may be. Who knows, it might be a Linux distribution by then.

We just finished up the "future" PC thread for 2020. Time for the 2030 one :)
no what I mean is

"future" is redundant when talking about "a PC in 2030." It is already "the future" by suggesting 2030. Just say "What will PCs look like in 2030?" Notice that the other thread had no such redundancy in the thread title.

What if he's asking about computers in the future relative to 2030. So what will a PC in 2040 look like?

well, now we're talking!

My answer for that is that we will all have personal quantum computers implanted in our armpits.

Damn, I'm going to be old then if I'm still on this earth. Time is precious commodity.

If that's the case, I'm going to go ahead and patent thermal paste deodorant to handle the heat dissipation issues.

My Prediction: You will have to use a AT to PS2 adaptor connected to a ps2 to USB adaptor connected to a USB to USB-8.0 adaptor to plug in your old IBM model M keyboard because they will have obsoleted the AT port, PS2 port, and regular USB ports by 2030.

I'm glad I have some newer PS2 Model M keyboards, they will need 1 less adaptor in the daisy-chain of adaptors :)

the only thing i know for sure about computers is that printers and everything about them will still be a pain in the ass to fix

Yeah, I'm not sure if you're even be able to crack open the case on an Apple product by then. They'll probably be glued shut from the factory.

Apple devices will all be a single machined piece of material, including the case, PCB(s), and all hardware components, all in some sort of proprietary 8 dimensional mobius strip of composite aluminum/silicon composite, such that to even consider "opening" the case would require splitting it with a pry bar or chisel or an axe, which, at any point on the machine, would render the entire machine inoperable. (no cables whatsoever, obviously!)

....the more I think about it, the more this sounds exactly like a thing Apple would do. What is the more perfect design for intended obsolescence, trapped ecosystem, and forced ~semi-annual replacements that insure life-long debt to the new People's Republic of Apple (a newly-independent country)?

I'd imagine that USB C ports will finally be standardized on everything by then, only to have a new port coming out around 2028 that's supposed to replace it :)

It'll probably look similar to existing PCs. Case designs haven't changed that much in a long time.

I don't understand how CPU or RAM specifications change how a PC looks. Are you OK, OP? Do you need your daily dose of prune juice?

i will have a quantum computer in 2030

and i will use it to mine coolcoin 24/7

You can't mine Coolcoin, it's an ERC20 token...

Er, whatever. Knock yourself out :)

Maybe I'll give the person who accurately predicts what a 2030 mid-range PC gaming rig will be like some Coolcoin. Assuming that both myself and Coolcoin are still around by then :)
