I usually pre prime jambs and trim to save time. Fresh colors and new ceiling white (always), are a dopamine rush. I also put sills back into this house which was worth the effort.
That's my program. Always use sills and pre primed material. I don't round off the horns though, I'll return them if it's a really visible area, but that's pretty rare.

I'll cheat if the drywall and corner bead are perfect and just do the trim. It's a little hokey but I tried it on one window and it's undetectable from 3 feet away. For reasons I don't understand the drywall guys did an exceptional job in my house. It was one of the last one's in the development so they may have padded out there hours by doing a better job.

I'm determined to keep working on my garage even in winter despite it being so cold in there so decided to rewire the temporary sub panel feed to share my dryer plug for now, so I can at least get 240v 30a in there. This is temporary until I upgrade my main panel which is full. Once that was done I wired in a dryer plug off the new subpanel to add an additional 4800w of heat. Also got a propane heater, radiant heater running off the existing garage feed and a regular 120v heater running off the new panel. Gives me around 39,000 BTUs of heat so it helps a bit.

With that said did lot of progress that doesn't sound like much but it's all the tedious stuff that is hard to do in a small garage since I keep having to move stuff to get to different parts of the ceiling, like running a bunch of circuits and also blocking in the areas where wires come down. This gives a surface to staple the vapour barrier around. Those boxes will probably just get foamed in to complete the seal. Got a few things left to do like a few more circuit runs and attic baffles then I can finally start closing in the ceiling. I'm just leaving electrical unterminated for now and labeling wires, so I can focus on getting the ceiling closed up. Even with all these heaters it's still cold, but it does help take the edge off at least, so once the ceiling is done it will make a big difference.

I feel like just having 240v in here now is a milestone though, even though it's a temp feed, at least it's enough to run this big heater. Until I decide on what to do for permanent heat I might even just use that heater and set it on very low. Goal is going to be to keep it at like maybe +5 or so. Just enough so that tools don't rust and if I want to work in there I can be comfortable enough with long sleeves.

My youngest grandson and I are in the process of digging in a french drain. Not a terrible big job...about 60 or so feet, maybe 1.5' deep, but the ground is pretty flat, so it's tough to get the slope so it will drain well...plus it drains into the wetland behind my house, and that water level fluctuates with the tides in the bay a few hundred yards away. (life on a sand spit sticking into the Pacific Ocean)

Edit...added a couple of pics.

That doesn't look fun to do by hand.

Did more progress on garage, the heaters did help a bit to make it semi comfortable to work in there, at least takes the edge off. Didn't really take any pics worth showing, just mostly electrical runs and attic baffles. I'm pretty much ready to start insulating the ceiling now so will do that on my next set of days off. Going to be so nice having insulation in there.

Definitely not "fun," but I'm glad we did it by hand. We found a 1" ABS (or black PVC...but I think it was ABS) pipe running right where we were digging. LOOKS like a water line, but there's no reason for a water line to be in my back yard. I have a call into the city water department, but they haven't gotten back to me yet...and I'm not going to wait on backfilling.

Bought a new house and selling the old one.

Outside of the usual unpacking and whatnot, the first major thing will be having some electrical code issues fixed and then having a water softener installed.

After that, flooring.

Sounds like well pipe. Abandoned well?

Nah, no water wells here. As near as I can figure it, when they built the house, instead of running the water supply line in a direct line from the meter to the house...which would have taken it under the driveway and garage, they looped around the house and entered the crawlspace from the back yard. The part of the line we found is pretty much in a straight line from the meter. That's the only thing that makes any sense.
Anyway, the french drain is in and backfilled...hopefully it will actually work. It basically dumps into a rockwell...that's in a wetland. 🤪 I have some "finish work" kind of stuff to do...basic clean up, maybe a bit of leveling of the surface area...but that's easy stuff.

Finally done ceiling electrical runs and conduits etc (still have to terminate) so started on the insulation. Doing R40 for now, but at some point I'll probably hire out a company to do blown in just to increase R value and fill in any gaps. Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish the garage door side including vapour barrier then will move all the stuff to that side so I can finish the other side. If all goes well I will do vapour barrier on that side too then tape it all. Once that is done it's going to help a lot keep the heat in and make the rest of the job more bearable. Walls are going to go faster, way less weird angles to deal with.

Going to be making those baffles longer, I realized as I was putting the insulation that they were not long enough so fixed the other ones.
