MYST!

is that the game were you type in what you want the guy to do and he does it and theres no graphics only text?

No. Had very good graphics for its time.

"Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of the Myst adventures. Explore numerous ages, follow dramatic storylines, and solve mind-bending puzzles.... In this acclaimed first adventure, join Atrus as you discover the secrets of the Dni civilization."

"You begin this first-person adventure by opening a book and being transported to Myst, a lonely island with a secret. You quickly find out from the creator of Myst that someone is destroying the wonderful worlds he writes into creation. He suspects his two sons, but which one is guilty? He can?t be sure and has imprisoned both of them books in Myst?s library, one in a red book the other in a blue book. He charges you with exploring the last 4 worlds left to find clues and discover which one is the guilty party. Each world contains a red and blue page only when all the red pages or blue pages are returned to the books can you release one of the brothers."

"Unlike most adventure games, Myst offers no inventory, no death, and no dialogue."

I agree. Arthur (the witty AI) was my favorite aspect of that game.

Some years ago I bought the 3rd one but never played past the first mission (kept crashing if I recall).

Yeah Arthur was hilarious, well worth playing through a couple times just to listen to him.

First one to appreciate... Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. Still one of the best games ever.

There was an old TSR 80 game that I really really loved to play. It was FunPark, or FunHouse or something like that. Cassette ROM and text based.

The thing I liked about it was that I would play this game with my best friend, his gf, and his gf's best friend. Of course, me and the gf's best friend became bf/gf and we would always end up ditching the TSR 80 for some good old american necking. 8th grade was a good year.

Quake 3. That is when I started playing FPS the right way with a mouse. Took me a long time to get used to it. Bought it the week it came out.
