Wow, some of you have been pampered (while others continue to be so) my first car was a 69 Rambler American hardtop my sister inherited it when our great aunt passed away in '95, it was registered to my parents but it was the car the kids drove. The first vehicle I had registered in my name was a 88 toyota camry that my wife brought into our mairrage in 2000. The first car I purchased was a 96 saturn sl2 I paid ~$5k for in 2002.

The oldest car I've had was about 30 years old, the newest car I've owned was 6 years old. Oddly enough the 30 year old rambler was the vehicle with the fewest miles on it. My daily driver is now 14 years old.

Kornphlake, I hear ya. I got rid of the Apache because it was rusted out and I could not keep heat in it. I happened to get my license and that rig during a record cold winter. You could see the road go by under what was left of the doors.

86 f150, rusty, and it was pretty much done after a year...had to replace the starter every few thousand miles, second gas tank was leaking, coolant was into the AC, it became a deathtrap.

By 'm' do you mean dollars? If so, what's the rest of the story here, how "beat" was it?

Shopping on craigslist, the guy was asking $9 and was leaving town a week later, i told him it wasn't worth nine while it was and since he was leaving the county he had to get rid of it or be stuck with it.

Knock on wood cars been flawless, helps me get around town and school, and for the price i couldn't resist(after i talked him down from 9 to 7.)

I really miss my old Galant. It was fun having a car you just didn't care about beating on.

Let me guess, it was a two-tone white over sea green 4 door sedan.

Mine was a turd brown 1963 Corvair Monza whose mighty 85 horsepower boxer engine was further enhanced by it's mulitple speed, fully automatic transmission of the future.

You guessed it. Just like this one.

I loved this truck. So much fun, and SO LOUD! :) I wound up putting a 350ci motor with flowtech headers and flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it. What a wonderful noise it made.

WOW! For the record, this was no set-up, I didn't know in advance. I just guessed that a 6cyl, 3 on the tree Bel Air would be a four door sedan and paired that with one of the most iconic colors of that time period together with the then all-the-rage two-tone color option.

I FUCKING RULE! :D :awe:

First car was a hand me down from my folks, 1988 LeBaron GTS... I miss that car and so badly wanted to do a shelby lancer conversion (it was white)

My first car I bought myself was a 2001 Neon R/T.... black on black, every option. Great car, had it for 5 years, never once a major problem. I sold it for my '02 Altima 3.5SE. I miss all of these cars dearly!

I get attached to my cars. I find you care more, the more work you do yourself to them. I know my current Saturn in and out. I really hope I can keep it running feasibly for a while longer (its almost 15 years old)

1991 Lincoln Continental. Got it in 2002 with about 200,000 miles. I say about because the digital odometer\speedometer intermittently worked, and then permanently didn't work at 196,000. I loved the car when everything worked (rarely) but I was glad when I wrecked it.

Man some of you got nice ass cars as your first.

Though I can't really complain; mine was pretty nice for a first car and it only cost $2500. Drove it from 128k to 195k miles which was 2002 to 2010. 1993 Mazda 626 LX:

1999 Malibu 3.1L, given to me by my family in 2003ish after my dad had racked up something like 20-30k miles a year. It was a nice car, but the transmission started acting up around 80-90k miles. Traded it in just under 100k.

The first car that I bought personally is my 2008 Fusion V6 SE.

I call it the Original Pussy Wagon:

Actually a great college car, hatchback held everything I owned and on road trips, you could fold the rear seats down and two could sleep comfortably. It also got ~28MPG.
