I've had a few gems -

1) I paid $1116.62 for a 9.1GB Cheetah in 1998

2) I bought a nice set of Paradigm speakers off the back of a truck, which turned out to be some wood and a few bricks. Bye bye $350.

3) I renewed all my domains THIS YEAR at networksolutions.com for $35 each, even though I knew about godaddy and namecheap. Talk about a brain fart!

I'd like to hear some horror stories from you guys!
 
Computer related....

bought games that I did not play more then 5 mins....

gym related....

Bought a 375 dollar membership and only ended up going about 5 times in that year

can't think of anything else at the moment
 
9800 pro when i don't even play games

electric guitar and amp when i barely even know how to play an acoustic

weight bench and weight set when i just got a gym membership
 
Geforce SDR soon as it came out. Paid around $500 bucks including taxes. A month later the DDR came out for the same price.

Yea lol, I felt like quite the dumbass for a long time after that. The funny thing is, I thought I was ripping them off, since I had talked them down from $500. I blame it on my youth. :|

Yeah ditto on the gym thing. Went for 2 months and then quit. Was lacking sleep cause the commute to gym and then home took too long.

I sent $150 in for a "credit card" that wasn't anything more than a credit card that you could use to by the merchants select items. I tried to get my money back but the company had closed up shop and well that was that... Still kinda bummed about that everynow and then.

$400 4x8 Mac-compatible CD-R from Megahaus.com in 1998.

SO expensive.

It still works, though. Along with the mac. 🙂
 
age of 16 saved up for 2 years purchased an Edge3d video card with 4mb video memory for 680 dollars.

At a bus station in Knoxville, TN I bought a quarter that turned out to be dandelions or some sh!t. I could have used that sh!t on a three day bus ride.
 
Probably an external HDD enclosure and a drive to go in it... or my first laptop. I'm getting better at realizing what I need.

A $400 phonebill from Earthlink because they said I sign up for their regular plan instead of the $19.95 unlimted plan.......yeah right.
This was playing Diablo of course when it first came out.
