The overall educational structure did not suit me well.
I was a "gifted student" and made honor roll through middle school and my first year of high school. Then I hit a brick wall, so to speak.
My grades plummeted in subjects I had no interest in (Algebra, History), and I continued to excel in subjects that seemed natural to me (English, Biology).
I have no one to blame but myself*, however, I would have thrived in an environment that was less rigid. I'm an intelligent person, but I learn differently than most, I think.
College was pretty much the same for me, until I figured out that formal education just isn't for everyone. Once I accepted that, things were much better for me
*as a student I had terrible (if any) study habits, I simply never learned how.
