A couple months ago, and I'm still trying to get out of it. It'll be a while.

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff people want to be thinking about on Christmas Eve.

Way to keep the spirit of the season alive

I'd say about year and a half ago - had lots of issues going on. I got out of it by being honest with people and myself :)

Finished up, rolled over. Felt good, no stress for my college finals.
Then she looked at me and said "I was joking, I'm only 17 and my dad is a Police Chief"

SAY WHAT?!?!?!

19th year.
No job.
No food.
No electricity.

I got out of it by moving 5 states away and getting a crappy job.

Right now...

Grams is layed up in a hospital bed in my living room. If/When she dies I'm gonna have to move out real quick. I have no money. I have a crappy job. The only good thing in my life is my GF.

Mom died about 20 days after X-mas 5 years ago. Everything changed, but I just stayed close with my family and now we are closer than ever...still really miss her though.

It was 2000/2001. My mom died in 2000 and my wife almost died in 2001. It took me a good while to get over all that. :(

A couple of years ago I saw my dad nearly get run over by a semi, and the stress of seeing the close call drove me insane. It was the beginning of schizophrenia. I developed heavy delusions of persecution and wound up being committed to a psych ward for a week. I went unmedicated for another year, which sucked big time, because I thought everyone was watching my every move. I thought there were cameras hidden in my house. Hard times. :(

But, I got on medication and I'm pretty much fine now. I have a full time job and I'm going to go back to school. Yay! :)

Dad died in 1994, got separated in 1996. Toss-up as to which one was worse.

I suppose the divorce, since that was a choice on the ex-wife's part and my dad dying was not preventable at all.

Edit: Oh, and I got over it the old-fashioned way: Time.

I guess I'm a bit fortunate. My lowest point did not revolve around death or someone dying for the most part.
I moved to California with almost no money. I got a job as a dishwasher at a restaurant in the evenings while going to school fulltime. Didnt have a car and I walked over 1.5 miles to the nearest busstop to school everyday. Didnt have a computer so I had to take the bus to school to the lab to finish my assignments. To top it off, I was living with my cousin whose wife was a bitch in the truest sense.
Moved out after 6months and lived with some friends. Took a long time to finish school with a BS in Computer Engineering and then started working for a software company.
6 years later with ample experience I drive a good salary and have 2 cars with all the stuff I could ever want.

Ambition drives devotion which drove my life to where I am now. Hope to work harder and learn more so that I stay on top in my game.

Merry Christmas Fellow ATOTers.
