Maze on the Apple II. There was also a 3d arcade game that came out before that. I think it was called Captain Atari.

Do you mean first 3D accellerated game, or just the first game to use 3 dimensions? If the latter, it was the original Battlezone. If the former, I think quake 1 was the first... i think. I dont remember. Maybe it was Carmageddon... whatever. All I remember was that I had the first 3DFX card. It was in a seperate slot on the mobo and had to use a passthrough cable.

Yeh, define 3D. My first experience with 3D accelleration was an original Monster Voodoo card with the GL wrapper for Quake 1.

I remember a game before Wolf that was like a maze/DnD type. Pits would drop you down a level, and the graphics were really bad. However, they were sufficient to give the user a sense of 3D space.

Wofenstein 3D on a 486SX-25.

Edit: Bollocks, it was 'Elite' on the Sinclair Spectrum 48K. Wireframe, but most certainly 3D.

The first 3D accelerated game I played was Tomb Raider. Voodoo FTW!

The first TRUE 3D game was one of the launch titles of the original Playstation. Can't remember the name, but it was in a FPS perspective.

For all you who think that Wolfenstein was 3D - think again.

Again we need to define 3D for this discussion. The maps and movement were 2D but the perspective was 3D.

Get a grip. You watch the whole thing on a 2D display so the point is moot. Wolfie was 3D, end of discussion.

(yes, I do know WHY you moaned about it, before you go off)
