Many still can they just prefer the 2 (leased) BMWs in the garage, large screen Tvs all over the house,designer clothes for everyone etc

being able to have a good scrap to settle differences at/after school without going to jail
1 dollar/gal gas
no texting/myspace/wow addicts
 

Polite & respectful general population;
stranger greet each others on the street,
teenagers help carry groceries & walk old people across the road,
teaching was a respectful career,
people invite vagabond into their home for supper,
rarely that you see a beggar (only the blind with other form of handicaps seemed to beg),
rarely you hear cursing,
crimes was extremely low.
automobile ignition key don't need to be taken out when you are shopping/bank/etc...,
cars door need not be lock when park on the street (including over night parking),
house door need not be lock when you are not home,
neighbors were much more friendly,
and last but not least is alcohol consumption in public places isn't a crime.

The simplicity of toys. Seriosuly. Look at an 8 years olds toys and think about what you had.

Seriosuly. Old Lionel Toy trains. Today, they ar eall digitally controlled. There was something carnal about being to understand how things work by looking at the relays and wires. Not anymore. Kids won't learn like we learned. Heck, do they even make those AA powered cars anymore. I forget what they were called. Had motors and gears inside you could look at. It was awesome. I learned the basic s of electricity and gears from thos stupid things.

Radio Shack 200 in 1 sets were affordnable. Today the costs are so high they are not made anymore.

So many simpler toys. And inexpensie and not crap from China that breaks all the time.

My wife and went out to breakfast on Sunday, and there were a couple of out of control children in the resturant. My wife was commented that there should have been a public ass whooping happening but alas today's children seem to control their parents :|.

Seeing the firefalls being dropped into Yosemite Valley. Riding a motorcycle(in Calif.) without wearing a helmet. For those living in the SF bay area, driving down the coast about 12-15 miles and taking out a .22 rifle and shooting at starfish and sea gulls(without the police having a shit fit) forty years ago. Cheap gas.
 
Certainly not the best thing from my childhood by any stretch, but going to the auto repair shop (not dealership) and seeing pics of near naked women pinned up in the lids of all the mechanics toolboxes.

I remember the last time I went trick or treating we stayed out till like 11:30 or something when most of the homes had already gone dark.
 
The hay day of adventure gaming. I can still remember pouring through that sierra catalogue planning my next adventure game purchase. Ahh good days. Sad to see such a good genre crash and burn.
