what was so funny about Kerry's last question?

So when Schaffer asked about the last question(3 great women), Kerry mentioned something about all of them being "married up," and then he said "especially him." Everyone started to laugh at that.....so what so funny? I dont get it.

Kerry ripped Bush apart in that debate. At first I thought Bush was doing pretty good cause Kerry was repeating the same stuff... but it got really really good.

Just like others said here, his wife was very rich when they married. Kerry is oft looked at as using his wife's money to further himself politically.

EDIT: Please don't take my comment as a political one, as I'm still undecided. This is just what I've read, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to start a war 😱.

You know what sux....................I don't dislike Kerry.......................but one thing is for sure........I can't bring myself to back ANYONE whom is getting millions in backing from George Soros (sp?) and I'm hearing that more and more.......................even on the news.....people are turning away from Kerry because of Soros's backing..........................................

Have you seen Teresa Heinz? Her money is her only redeeming quality. Even a blind guy wouldn't hit it otherwise.

*sigh* I'll have to venture into P&N to hear how it went. I was busy with grad work and didn't want to take a break.

edit: if I'm not out of there in 10 minutes, send help!

Bush wet his pants wanting out of there so bad!

There, fixed it for you.

The funny part about Kerry's answer is that he was directly quoting a statement Bush made at a fundraising event.

We both married well; some accuse us both of not being able to speak the language; we both have big biceps - well, two out of three isn't bad - George W Bush comparing himself to Arnold Schwarzenegger

I wouldn't really expect an original comment or thought out of Kerry. LOL

Were you watching the same debate I was? I didn't hear that "direct quote" in anything that Kerry said.

you'll never get an answer out of there

But honestly, neither is worth a tinker's damn in the long run. Both have spending plans that will essentially raise the deficit over the next 10 years by $1.3 trillion.

Both lie and distort facts constantly. Kerry and Bush did just that in this debate. For instance, Bush stated he never said he "was not concerned about bin Laden." Well, GWB DID MAKE such a statement at a March 13, 2002, press conference.

His comment was part of a response to this question from CNN's Kelly Wallace: "Don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?"

Bush's response: "Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. ... And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban. But once we set out the policy and started executing the plan, he became -- we shoved him out more and more on the margins."

Then again, Kerry seems to forget a few things, too..........Kerry said 1.6 million jobs were lost under Bush. This of course is just in the private sector. When you factor in the public sector's (the government's) increased size that has occured under Bush, the overall job loss since January 2001 is 821,000, according to numbers released last week by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

So, both distort, lie and try to confound. Pick one.....it seems one's about as good as the other.

You're right and the one big swing reason between now and the election could well be Soros if he continues being as vocal as he's been the last several days.........people may not like Bush.....may not like Kerry........but neither group likes the idea of Soros buying the Whitehouse........................

Agreed, Kerry owned the first debate, and I missed the second, but Bush won this one, pretty clearly.
