The last time I asked this was almost a year ago and I thought it would be interesting to see how usage has changed in the past year.

Using 365 and 2013 on my personal machines, aside from one laptop with 2007. 2013 and 365 (jumped on the 365 bandwagon thanks to microsoft doing everything they can to make it harder to choose any other route) on the machines I manage as along with a few running 2010. OpenOffice is on one of my machines as well and works for what I use it for.

One thing about open office that irks me though, in the version I use (forget which one off the top of my head and i'm not on the right computer to look) there is no presenter view in impress and you have to go and download a plug in to get it. Presenter view is something I rely on a lot in powerpoint and it just seemed silly not to have it. Especially for something that calls itself an MS Office replacement. Some formatting also gets screwy sometimes when going from MS Office to open office but it usually isn't too big of a deal. It is still a great piece of software and is what I recommend to people who can't afford or don't want MS office and it works great for most people.

What do you use?

Here's the old thread in case anyone was interested

I'm running O'10 H&S for now. Just had to give up on Outlook '03 so I moved to Postbox. The way MS is tightening the screws down on Office, I'll probably look elsewhere (LibreOffice/OpenOffice) when they EOS '10.

Libreoffice at home.

MS Office 2010 at work. We recently upgraded to it from 2003. Personally I'm not a big fan of it, it's so clunky, and it's hard to find stuff, but we don't use it all that much so it's not that bad.

2013 at home, but once my student subscription runs out I'll just use libre office. We have office 2010 where I'm going to start working in june and I can get an office license for home use if I really want.

LibreOffice at home and work. There's some kind of MS Office on the machine at work; 2007 I think, but I don't use it.

2007 - Got it free from work, I would never purchase an office suite. Once I can break my Windows dependency I will go with leafpad as previously mentioned.

At home, I use Office XP .. don't need the features in the newer versions. But I do have Office 2003 and Office 2007 (fully legit) if I want or need to use them. (all are the Pro versions)

2013 at home and 2010 at work. Jumped on the $10 epp school deal for 2013 or I'd still be on 2010 at home.

Liking some of the new features on 2013. Looking forward to rolling it out at work. Except the support and training part.

I have more than one machine. I use 2007 on one and 2010 on two others. I also have elements of 2003. Too bad the poll doesn't allow more than one choice. :)

All were acquired via TechNet. For work I originate I use Corel Perfect Office X3 and X5.

why pay for Microsoft office when there is open and libre office?
Because there are certain features needed in office and not everything displays correctly when going from one program to another. For basic usage like a typical home user would use it for it is probably fine but anything heavily formatted will likely have issues.

2007, it works perfectly, no reason to upgrade.

I thought the same, until, coupla mos ago, a little more, I think, I learned HERE 07 is vulnerable. I resented it bigtime, but I immediately upgraded to 2010.

So interesting, as of right now, re this poll, the majority of those who have voted are running 2010.

How can I get 2010 for work related stuff?

I have a Dell that came with Office 365 but I am not sure it is worth the annual fee. I imagine if I could get 2010 then it would be good enough for my work computer.

If you don't currently own a copy or have a license he you'll need to purchase one. Off hand I don't know who still sells them..anyone eBay? Can't speak for any sort of reliability or legitimacy though so may not be worth the risk.

Can check the usual tech places like newegg, tigerdirect, CDW, etc. maybe amazon as well.

We use Office 2010 at work. I also use Office 2010 on my main desktop at home thanks to a cheap home use license through work. So that is what I use most often.

For the other home computers I use LibreOffice. It works well for the basic things I need to do at home. Can't justify an Office 365 subscription.

Microsoft HUP is great. Got 2013 pro plus for $10. If you have a military email you can get in on the deal. Some business emails also work but it depends.

An educational email address will often work as well (for staff and faculty) if your institution is part of the program. I got my version of Office 2013 (Professional Plus) for $11.00 Cdn. through HUP as well. It's a very nice deal.

365 user utilizing all five seats for the subscription (which turns out to be the cheaper option for me over time).

Plus, OneNote 2013/365 is possibly my most utilized Office program along with clipping tidbits from ANY source, file, copy/paste into my array of notebooks and pages.
