That neither Israel nor Palestine has clean hands in their conflict (means that I disagree with EVERYONE, since it seems that everyone paints one side as saints and the other as the devil).
That blindly spouting a party line and refusing to even consider any evidence to the contrary is an intellectual crime.
That deliberately incendiary speech or writing does no good for society and only widens divisions.
That religious people aren't universal stupid, that scientists aren't universally self-serving liars who fake data to get funding, and that the government is neither an evil conspiracy nor a competent group of patriots.
That abortions should be kept legal, but that they should not be considered a good form of birth control, and that abortions after the first trimester should have stiffer restrictions than first-trimester abortions.
That smart and stupid, lazy and hardworking, selfish and selfless, and honest and corrupt people occur across the political, religious, racial, and socioeconomic spectrum. That society's job is to try to strike a balance that gives everyone the
opportunity to do well, gain an education, and find a good job, and that no one should starve; however, society does NOT owe everyone a fancy house, three cars, and free health care.
That, given that the top tax bracket was several times higher from the 40s through the 70s than it is now, and rich people were still able to live extravagant lifestyles, the rich are NOT taxed too much, the economy does NOT rely on a low top tax bracket, and a huge gap between the rich and the poor is NOT ultimately good for the country.
That if you choose to live in an area that gets regularly demolished by hurricanes (or fires, or tornados, or floods...) and refuse to get insurance, the government shouldn't do anything more than fix the roads, restore power and running water, and deal with public services. Your house is your own business.
Public money for the public good, not for private interests. The purpose of the government is not to concentrate wealth and pander to lobbies. Open bidding for government contracts (however, there should be some ability not to choose the absolute lowest bid if competing bids are for better work at a similar price...see Boston's Big Dig), a paper trail on handouts (see bank bailout).

I believe Americans in general have no idea what poverty really is.
I'd say that this isn't so much "controversial" as "obviously true", and applies to the whole first world.

- Abortion of any type, including Plan B, should be eliminated (the only logical conclusion if you believe life begins at conception)
True, but the belief that life begins at conception is a gross oversimplification of the definition of "life".
