I've got a cablemodem with @Home and get downloads up to 200K/s. The 128kbps (?) upload cap is frustrating, though.

I'm running up/download Satellite (no phone line), so far it's comparable to DSL but getting better every day. DLS and Cable are not available in my area, so a 24K dialup was all I could get.. the minute the up/down Sat came available, I jumped on it.

I've got cable with @Home as well. I use a T1 at work but it's so slow because it's shared by the other 600 employees.

@Home and loving it, on a very fast connection downloading stuff at 450k a sec for me is pretty cool. Get pissed now when I see anything below 200k :)
Just recently got it also been on dialup my whole life due to unavaility of anything else. Now I will never go back to anything but high speed. Plus for 30 bucks a month it aint that shabby for both the modem and the connection.

<< what type of internet? I thought there was only 1? >>

There is one "Internet", there can be multiple "internet"s. An internet is simply the connection of two or more networks.

I have Optimum Online from Cablevision of L.I.

My test speeds vary widely. What benchmark are you guys using to measure download speed?

Right now I'm on an overcrowded T1, at home I'm stuck on dialup. I get consistent 52000-53333 connections, though, from BFE.

A mere 33.6K connection here on a cr@p BT DACS line. Often get disconnected at random intervals for no apparent reason as well. :|
