Dumbass people use premium because they think their car will "like it" or that its a "treat".

Only high-performace cars with fairly advanced timing and/or higher compression ratio benefit from premium fuel. It describes the fuels anti-knock properties. There is no benefit to using more than you need, and if you are one of the aforementioned dumbasses, you likely think it improves your gas mileage.

I put high grade in both our cars. They seem to run better and get better milage.

Also, when I previously asked a similar question, I got a good ass-reaming for even suggesting using anything lower in my car.

The US uses the AKI rating and UK uses the RON rating. That explains the difference between the figures.

Shell doesn't even put much of the "nitrogen enrichment" in the lower grades of fuel...you need to buy V-Power to get any real nitrogen enriched cleaning benefits...

in texas we have 93 octane for premium...dunno why..had to run it when i had a turbo eclipse..
