what type of cooking pan do you have?

I need to buy a pan for cooking and I am not sure if i should get a pan with just a stainless steel interior or one with a non-stick coating (eg, black coating). I heard the stainless type last longer and are safer since theres no coating that will come off during use, but stainless means the food comes out burnt if i don't add enough oil. so, what type of pan do you use and what type do you recommend I should get?

i prefer stainless.

oil is not the boogeyman that the doctors were trying to scare you with in the 1980s. and if you control your heat properly the food doesn't burn. you're aware it isn't a simple on/off switch, right?

I own a set of Calphalon One Infused Anodized... been using them for 5 years no problem. I can do just about anything with them. I still have a set of stainless as well that I pull out every once in a while.

non stick...never used stainless.
I do have a cast iron skillet though which I use more than the non-stick

Non-stick for baking, because I'm lazy and hate cooking, and stainless for stovetop (pan & cooking pot).

The pan has a thick aluminum base, but the rest of it is stainless.

Oh, and I have a large glass rectangular baking dish.

but those cast iron skillets are so heavy and bulky...

seems like most people here prefer stainless over non stick.

GreenPan. Utterly amazing technology and less dangerous than teflon.

I have 2 non-stick pans that I use for general, all-purpose cooking (one large one when I'm cooking for multiple people, and a small one when I'm just cooking a piece of fish or something for myself) and a set of cast iron pans that I'll use for certain things (namely, anything southern or anything that will require going from the stove top to the oven or vice versa in the same pan).

never had a problem with my non-stick, and they were pretty cheap too (ikea)... I'm just especially careful when it comes to what utensils I use with it.

"A pan" or a set of pans? What are you cooking? What kind of cooking? Using gas or electric?

I have a selection of everything in various forms. I think my cast iron skillet is my favorite one.

I use non-stick for baking too. And stainless for cooking. When cooking you just need to stir it regularly to prevent it from sticking, for baking it is nice when you can pretty much just wipe the pan clean afterwards, rather than having to attack it with steel wool.
