What tv shows have you given up on/stopped watching?

I get my news from my google home. I listen to it while I fry an egg or do dishes or make lunch in the kitchen in the morning when the rest of the family is asleep or getting ready. It has news from a variety of sources and is quick and to the point.
 
Most. 90% of what I try because it looks good in promos doesn't live up to expectations and gets dumped. A few turn out to be gems.
 
The Walking Dead. I stopped after season 4 I believe, after the Governor plotline. The show was just unbearable by that point and based on reading comments in TWD thread on here it looks like absolutely nothing has changed.

The Last Ship is another one. I watched the first season and it was a decent summer show, but it was so campy and had such bad acting when S2 rolled around I couldn't bother with it.

Hell's Kitchen is another one. I watched that show religiously for years but gave up a few years ago because it's clearly staged to all hell now and it's even worse than it used to be. It's like they are making fun of themselves on that show now.

And Don't get me started on Breaking Bad. That show is so horrible, I don't see how people can watch it.

I gave up on Fear The Walking Dead and the The Last Ship after the first season.

I'm thinking about giving up on The Walking Dead as well, since I'm just not buying the plot anymore. I guess that I'm just getting sick of world apocalypse shows.
 
Several that I can think of.

The Walking Dead - I think it was after S4 (right after Guvnuh died). It just got boring and my wife didn't appreciate the gratuitous violence (first few seasons had violence but it "fit" better"). I always thought the acting and direction were shit but at least it was interesting for a while.

Fear of TWD - watched S1. It wasn't great but I liked it better than the last season of TWD. We just never picked up S2 (if there even was one lol).

The Americans - my wife accidentally wiped the DVR in S3 or S4, we just never had time to catch up on Netflix when that season came out.

Better Call Saul - I couldn't get my wife into this one, and S2 got wiped on the DVR erasure. So I saw about 1.5 seasons. I do have S3 on DVR so I need to finish S2 alone soon so I can start S3.

24 Legacy - we liked the first 3 episodes but E4 never recorded (we have 5+). We'll probably never finish it.

It's the same as Lost....and any other show that follows a perpetual story line that's written week to week. They use the same hooks to keep you watching and you pickup on it. If an episode feels flat, they are only setting you up for a shock the next one...then they reveal just enough to make you wonder what's next. Eventually the process feels so forced you don't care anymore.

The best part about the Walking dead was the initial few seasons where there were more walkers involved and some cool writing. Somewhere after season 3, the whole series took a turn for the worse despite some of the coolest character developments happening after that. It's just rough when they kill off characters after 20+ episodes because they're more defined characters than the new people no one cares about. Negan established himself quickly as a character, but as I've seen more of his acting, he basically just uses the same delivery on his lines...picture him saying, "Wow! Look at the set on you!" Point is, if you can hear his voice reading that line with pauses built in, his character is already too predictable, well known, and one dimensional...and what's with the scarf? He's less interesting than Rick....who has his own character flaws in the series. I stopped caring after season 3, but only watch because my wife does. 🙁

TWD had a few good seasons and then went off the rails. I stuck with it hoping it would get better and it just kept getting worse. And eventually, it got so bad it became good again. It's not a zombie drama anymore, it's an inadvertent comedy.

i'd be happy to take it back. and I will, if the show gets better. Right now, entirely missable. I keep hearing "it gets better" ... but when?!
 
Took Quantico off my DVR list over the weekend. Taken is on it's way out as well. Blindspot will probably need to go as well.

Quantico and Blindspot had good first seasons. I should have stopped there. Taken had a good first episode, and that was about it.

Oh... and Designated Survivor. I'm about to give up on that as well.

For anyone with a brain, it's good right away. If you're not hooked on that cold opening with Walt taping the message expecting to be caught, there's something wrong with you. For those a little more dense it should be episode 6 in season 1. When Walt blows up Tuco's crib and saunters out of there with the cash that should seal the deal. That's when Walt becomes Heisenberg, hooked on the action, addicted to the game. And for the monumentally stupid, episode 2 of season 2 when Walt and Jesse escape Tuco and it ends with Hank killing him should do the trick.

If you're that deep into the series and still don't get it, go back to the Teletubbies or Care Bears because you'll never get it.
 
The Big Bang Theory. I stopped watching regularly at about S4. Now they are in S9 or S10. I watch every now and then. The problem is that the show acts like a giant dose of Xanax. At the end of an episode I feel like my head is much emptier than 30 minutes before.

I might offend if I said anything else about how I really feel about the current state of television. I know one thing for sure ... I am no longer the target demographic.

gee, looks like i struck a nerve. did not know that personal attacks on intelligence have anything to do with television.
 
Would have stopped Iron Fist if it wasn't only a small amount of episodes and probably somewhat important to defenders (Daredevil is one of the best shows in years imo).
Not sure if it's official, but haven't watched Arrow in a while. Meandering plot, they've totally ruined Felicity's character, just never goes anywhere.
Being realistic, I would have stopped Better Call Saul if I didn't already know the character. That show is as slow as plate tectonics.

Some of us just have higher expectations. The show is crap.
 
The Walking Dead. I don't know which season I last watched--4. 5? That show is godawful.

I gave up on House of Cards after season 2, episode 1, when it decided to go all Game of Thrones. screw that noise.

The final two seasons are amazing. You do have to tough it out through Hank's sojourn with minerals in one of the seasons, though, which is almost unbearable. It's a fantastic show in whole, and you'll probably find yourself wanting to go back and rewatch it from the beginning

I watched TWD through season 3? Or maybe part way through season 4?
Even after season 2 I was bitching that NOTHING HAPPENED.
Season 2 they sat on a farm the entire season.

Most overhyped show EVER.

Used to watch TWD till season 3, then it got boring. Can't believe its on season 7 now.
I have 24 Legacy (all 12 episodes) on my Xfinity DVR. Maybe I'll "watch" it ASAP.
Not sure If I'll even watch the new season 5 of Prison Break.

Now, I just watch documentaries most of of the time.

starting with that boring season, the only thing that kept me watching was Maggie. Hottttttttttttt.
