Harley oil system tech tip:
Oil filters only work on the RETURN side of Harleys, where they are interposed between the scavenge section of the oil pump and the oil tank. They do nothing for the oil fed to the pressure section of the pump, from whence the oil goes to the crankshaft.
Enhanced lapping of internal systems may be accomplished by the inclusion of inexpensive fine grit valve lapping compound (see any auto store) well dispersed (lest it clump) in a solution of gasoline, diesel,or kerosene added to the oil tank. A volume about the size of a shot glass is sufficient. Oil cap location is normally visible at the side of the machine below the seat. If not visible it may be assumed to be under the seat, most of which flip up or sideways. Flat-rate charges for such work should reflect about 20 seconds labor time if cap is accessable.
Proper care of caps and adjacent parts includes the removal of fingerprints (which may cause corrosion) from all surfaces after maintenance.
You are now returned to your previous discussion.
Most Harley riders are good folks, but now and again there are some we'd rather see take up jogging.
