this is exactly the reason i moved out of apartment living and into a house. I hated everything about apt living! Stories like this make me think i made a very good choice buying my house when i did.. whew!

I agree 100%, and I am a happy homeowner w/ one helluva home theater that runs @ Dolby reference level (and then some). 🙂

You're not doing anything wrong. The police know you're not doing anything wrong. So just do what you know is not wrong. When he comes down to complain, open the door, say "Hi, how are you today? you look swell, it was nice of you to visit and I hope to see you again sometime, bye" before he has a chance to eke out a word. Then close the door on him. if he keeps knocking and knocking and knocking, call the police and complain about the noise. If he calls the police, let them come, notice you aren't generating noise and get a copy of all the reports they file on some wayward saturday. This will put him on bad terms with the police for repeatedly calling. If he goes and tries to file a lawsuit, bring those reports, file a counter-suit on harrassment charges and collect the dough. If he does something more drastic, you can easily get him evicted/arrested. It's your apt, so long as you aren't doing anything wrong fsck him.

Go next door some day and ask to use his restroom while yours is "being repaired" and take the lid off his toilet then take a dump in there. Trust me, this method is effective.

This is called an "upper decker", no matter how many times your flush its gonna be dirty water.

Get a recording of a barking dog. Play it at different invervals throughout the day. Soon, he'll give himself a heart attack. If that doesn't work, just turn on DMB when you leave for work, so he has to hear it all day. (assuming he's home)

dont answer your door.crank the music up.

act like he doesnt even exist.

if he tries to get physical, smash a chair over his head.

What exactly is reference level?

I've seen people jump up and run out with as little as 127 dB broadband peaks. (thunderclap)

DVD's have good dynamic range. Depth charges in U571 caused a compact fluorescent tube to implode overhead. The reaction of the audience was priceless! It's time to switch to luxeon stars...

Most people cannot tolerate very low frequencies at loud levels for long without discovering they have to defecate immediately. It's like a form of infrasonic laxative. 155 dB at 5 Hz does wonders! :Q

Cheers!

Get the jerk on video tape.

I saw a story on the magic box about this guy who had a neighbor who was harassing him. He complained to the cops and the landlord but it came down to his word against his neighbor's. So he video taped this jerk. I believe the jerk got jail time for his behavior or at least he is going to court for it.

The cool thing is this jerk was shown on a national news show being an ass.

A dude with a Harley that complains about noise, now I've heard everything. Next time he starts it up, yell hey, turn that sh1t down. Or just punk his ass.

Fvck him. Although it sucks, he probably isn't going to change, or move.

Exactly. You may even have to give him some FU's in return. It seems he enjoys the power he has over his neighbors and people that are conciliatory to him, just give him more ammo.

That's what's *not* going to happen. He's succeeded in having the people below him move out on two occassions. I'm not going to help him out that way.

When my complex office reopens Monday, I'll be having a chat with the management.

GOOD. I'm not a confrontational person by nature, but situations like this bring out the worst in me. I really wish I were in your shoes, I would make his life a living HELL. That type of sh!t would piss me off to no end. :|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

Just thinking about is getting my adenaline going. I would get a dog just to sic it on him. And not a small little one but a BIG one, like Rhodesian Ridgeback. And I'd light the dog on fire before I sic'ed him! ARG!!!!! :|:|

Dude, keep us INFORMED on what you do to him. I want this guy as a trophy piece. What an asshat. :|:|

Edit: On second thought, I wouldn't light the dog on fire.

Tell us how you REALLY feel...
