Xbox by far. The games are much better and Xbox live is really nice. (Just bought it [Live] last week and love it)

the games are much better?
which games?

Well to start off, there's Halo. I thought it'd suck playing a FPS on a console but I was proven wrong. Fun as hell with multiplayer too. Then there's Mech Assault. Knights of the old republic is fun too.

Don't worry, he's just a PS2 and GC fanboy. He doesn't understand the concept of people like the XBox better than his "superior" systems.

Holy Crap! Halo, Mech Assault, AND KOTOR?! The PS2 can't possibly have more than 3 decent games.

Again, like I said, there's plenty of games that are nice. And besides, hardware-wise speaking, the PS2 holds nothing against the Xbox. Time and time again, the xbox version has been shown to be better than the PS2 version for a game that came out on all 3 platforms.

Here are a few other games which I like:

Splinter Cell (Better on the xbox)
Soul Calibur 2 (again better on the xbox)
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance (Haven't really compared it to the PS2 version yet)
MVP Baseball 2004
Deathrow
Midnight Club 2
Ghost Recon

Those are all awesome games and I bet the PS2 cannot compete. It only has like 3 titles. Nobody really plays games on the ps2, we use it hold down things that would otherwise fly away. In fact, I don't even see why ebgames has its own section for PS2 games, it is clearly not needed as anything good is on the xbox!

It is hard to imagine why so many people continue buying PS2 games when they could be running such an amazing machine, like the Xbox. Truly... baffling.

I looked at all the 3 major systems and went with X-Box. The game selection has grown greatly, better graphics, and now X-Box live.
Not having to buy memory cards, network card, etc... also does not hurt when compared to the PStwo

x-box seems like too much work for me. i bought a ps2 becuase i wanted a simple console, didnt want to do online stuff didnt want to do anything other than buy the games i like (which tend to be ps games), put them in and play for a bit. when i want more complicated gaming stuff (read: online) i use my computer. i felt like buying the x-box would be carry the same upgrade pressure as my pc minus the ability to shop around for good prices.

Get an xbox, mod it, drop a 200 gig hard drive in it, put all of your (legally owned) xbox games, dvds, divx movies, nes games, snews games, psx games, dreamcast games ,mame games on the hard drive then have A LOT of fun with it.

At least you see the light since you can't come up with anything 🙂
I'm sure the PS2 can play NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, Neo Geo, Sega CD, GameBoy, Nintendo 64 games on it as well, right?

Hey all, thanks for all the generous replies...

Well, after reading all the replies, it looks like a majority of people like Xbox better...
The only PS2 game I would want to play but it's not on Xbox is GT andI guess I can live without it...

I think I am going to wait until mid October to purchase it because I am expecting a price drop... we'll see...

Thanks again, to all of you.

Exactly. Except I thought 120 was the biggest you can put. Has that been changed?

Good choice. And if you get the money/desire, get the PS2 as well. It is still a good console system, just not up to par to an Xbox

Read my post above. Price drop is probably not coming because XBox is coming out with a new package mid-October.

No it cannot. Which is a complete shame! Just yesterday I was like, "Damn, if only I could run emulators off this machine instead of my PC... it would totally rule to go through more work than I have to". You owned me 🙁.

Congrats on your purchase Xiety and sorry to drag your thread down 🙂. I stand by my original advice, of course, which I think you may have followed.

eh It's not more work at all. Was quite simple in fact. 🙂 It's nice being able to play my games straight off the hard drive instead of having to pop in cds everytime you want to change your games.

Hey I already read 🙂 That's why I am gonna wait till early-mid october, because I saw that Xbox+2 games+a 2 month trial of xbox live will be the same price as xbox alone right now... 🙂 thanks anyways though 😉

About 2 weeks ago some people cracked the 137 barrier. I've seen some folks talking about successfully installing 180 Gig drives.

you mean the minority?
sorry i cannot reccomend something that has shown itself beyond a FEW exceptions to be nothing but a haven for bastardized pc games and etc. shovelware that is avaliable on every other system.
i can only assume since we are on a computer hardware/enthusiast forum that the pc would be the platform of choice for the aforementioned.
Im a fanboy of taste, no more no less.

Actually most Xbox games aren't ports of PC games. Dunno where you get this nonsense from.

You people are insane the only console that has a decent library of RPG's is the PS2. Also it does not matter if the games are better on xbox or whatever because you buy a PS2 for GT3 GTA3 GTA:VC FF10 Suikoden3 Xenosaga, etc. Being able to play soul calibur2 and splinter cell is like a bonus, but it's not like the ps2 needs this bonus to be on top anyways...... Also most of the decent-best xbox games are ports or gamea that will be on pc anyways. Also the biggest advantage to buying a PS2 is that M$ gets no money.

Ps2... quite simply because Gran Turismo 4 will soon be out 😀
I love Final Fantasy X and the GTA series (GTA3 was the reason I bought it in the first place)
And that Eye Toy is a hoot when you've got mates around and had a few beers (in my case almost every weekend)
