ND is way overrated

colorado is underrated
Oh wait, Colorado lost and will lose again when they play Texas.

they lost to a team they should have beaten. i blame the wind. did you see the game? kickoffs with the wind were going through the uprights no problem, but kickoffs into the wind were coming down at the 30. colorado just got backed up so much to begin with that an inferior ISU team could score more than it should have.

uhh. under the old system, texas and usc would not be playing each other if they remained undefeated.

which is why the bcs is no more of a failure than the previous system.

I would agree that normally Colorado is better than Iowa St. However, a 7-3 team beating a 7-3 team isn't that uncommon and Iowa St. isn't that much worse than Colorado. It should have been an overtime game, not a 14 point win for Iowa St (if you take away two defensive touchdowns by Iowa St.)

Colorado is a good team. They just aren't a top 15 team like you seem to think. Colorado will likely end the season at 9-4 with an easy bowl opponent. Quite respectable record. But still, I don't think Colorado belongs ranked higher than 20.

I don't know about you but I would rather have USC play Texas than USC play the Big Ten champ in the Rose Bowl. There would be an outrage if USC ended up national champions if they didn't have to beat Texas, which is what would happen in the old system. The BCS tries to have #1 vs #2.. sometimes #3 gets thrown in.. but still better than the old system.. This is coming from a Trojan fan who was robbed two years ago.

are you arguing against me?

anyway, re: colorado, last week they were ranked 22 and 21 and behind such teams as TCU (who has played exactly no one) florida state (overrated due to their marginal win against miami) auburn (who, up until they, had beaten no one) michigan (which is inconsistent) west virginia (who might lose to south florida). i think last week's BCS rating is about where they'll end up the season in the people polls. which was 18th, not top 15, but definitely top 20.

re: ND, they go up the poll too fast simply because they are ND and everyone on the planet seems to be a golden domer fanboy. they are overrated in the people polls, and i'm still right about that. are they better than ohio state? probably not. are they better than alabama? questionable. are they better than oregon? doubtful. ucla? i'll give it a toss. vt? i don't think so. i don't think ND is a top 10 team.

I'd say Ohio State is better then ND. Which Alabama team are you talking about (the Alabama team that blew out Florida would beat ND, but since Prothro is out, Alabama would not beat ND). Oregon with Clemens would beat ND, but without definetly not. If UCLA plays all 4 quarters, they might beat ND, but the way they normally play, probably not. I don't think ND has the speed on defense to disrupt Vick, so VT would probably win.

So yes, I think ND is overrated in the polls, but not as much as you make it seem.

I have ND 8th in my personal rankings.

one of the issues that i regularly have with 'who i think of as a top ten team' is that i usually don't think there are 10 teams worthy of being top ten teams.

ND played USC much much closer than Oregon did. Both were away games for USC.
