Physical pain is nothing compared to the mental pain an impossible love can cause

Sure, anything you say.

A few years ago I was air conditioner repairman and I was doing something stupid(horsing around with a small window unit and like a dumbass, I stuk my hand into the back part of the a/c,right into the fan blade. Luckily for me, it was a small machine with plastic blades, because two of the blades broke as they tried to sever my pinky. My finger was held on by about a quarter inch of skin.Hurt like the fires of hell. Got to the hosptal and got into surgery. They localized my arm up to my shoulder., so I was awake the whole time, but they had my face shielded so I wouldnt see the reattaching. Now , here comes trouble: The doctor asks me to tell him when my hand is starting to hurt, so I tell him "Doc, its a-hurtin' now." He tells me to let him know when it REALLY starts to hurt. So I tell him "Doc its REALLY hurting now!" Doc calls for more anesthetic and guess what? They cannot find the person with the key for the pain killer cabinet! Now I am beginning to feel all of the agony up my arm. I'm screaming like a baby and they had to strap me down to the table. Let me tell you, when you have a doctor using a surgical steel brush to scrape your bones to remove plastic shards from your finger,it hurts just a wee bit. THe doctor yelled out "I dont give a fvck if you have to break the goddamn glass, get me the anesthetic!" They finally got a hold of the lady with the key and basically gave me 3 high doses of morphine , which knocked me out until the next morning.

Yeah, I'm sure an impossible love can cause you as much pain as that.

Peace

that just about describes mine as well. The exact incident where it was the worst happened about 4 years ago, and a reoccurance about 1.5 years ago.

still have back pain everyday though. I've learned to live with it, popping it every few minutes. I'm 21 btw.

I have rheumatoid arthritis. This produces an array for me to choose from. The quarter before I was diagnosed, when I could barely walk because of the pain in my feet and knees? Or not being able to open jars or type because of my hands? Meh, the worst was my jaw, getting RA in the right side of my jaw and not being able to open my mouth. Made eating very difficult, for months. Multiple cortisone shots in the joints in my hands - two shots per infected joint. Watching my skin swell as they injected it in... someone already mentioned cortisone in their back as being the worst - I'd have five to ten shots per visit, two per joint. Excruciating.

Had problems with the nerves in my neck too, so I can't raise my arms, or turn my head.

[edit] Y'know, thinking about it, I think the fact that this is perpetual is the worst part. That I'll never get rid of it, never be able to run again, never be able to depend on my hands being able to close, never know how much pain there'll be in the morning or what they'll need to do to keep my body operating.

Maybe you shouldn't be having kids if you are so poor you cannot afford painkillers.

A third child? Ever heard of birth control?

Dude, don't talk where you don't have all the facts, okay? There's much more to this situation than you know.

[edit] Unfortunately, there are a lot of circumstances where women don't have the choices they should, or are controlled by circumstances they shouldn't have to be under. (I'm not talking about abortion here, btw)

I have had five shoulder operations, and one acl operation. Broke both the bones in my forearm, crushed my big toe, and stepped on many nails that actually came out the top of my shoe.

Those hurt a lot, but as a paramedic I will tell you the things that seem to be worse...

1. Burns
2. Crush injuries
2. Kidney Stones
3. Ruptured ovarian cysts
4. The rest of the stuff

(patients hate getting shocked/tubed while awake, but it really doesn't hurt as much as you think :Q )

I shattered about a whole inch of bone on my shin. It was a bad bike accident... But the pain was after I had surgery and everything. I really don't remember much when the accident happened.

Lower back muscle back spasms. For two days even rolling over in back caused my lower back muscles to contract and lock up. During the first 24 hours going to the bathroom was an interesting exercise.

Worst pain ever- I was on Atkins for a few months when all hell broke loose (well, actually.. ok, never mind)- I was constipated for over a week and simply could not use the bathroom.. breathing became the most painful thing possible and walking was a chore.. Felt like there was a little man inside of me beating the crap out of my organs.. hard to explain...

When I was 8, I got attacked by a pitbull. It ripped a 2"x2" hole in my arm down to the bone, and scratched about 98 stitches worth of cuts in my arms.

MY stomach can't break down certain foods like beef and stuff containing Canola Oil. It get really bad burning in my upper stomach and it sometimes causes me to vomit. IT burns then goes away, burns then goes away, burns... repeat this about 1000 times per time it happens. Keeps me up, cant mover, cold sweat. It's pretty bad.

I've had two children and I swear! I'd much rather go through both births again than to ever feel that pain again.
It's really bad.

The only thing I can do to avoid it is take papaya enzymes before and after eating meals that may contain Canola oil, that seems to be the biggest culprit.

Umm well i was riding my bike with my friends, and we found a way cool hand rail. So we grinded it a couple times, on the 3rd or 4th time when i got on it i slipped and crunched my boys , smashed my Johnsen, cut my J, and had to get 10 stiches in my nut sac.

That was the most painful for me

I don't think that I can compete with most of the stories. My worst pain was when I got an ear infection and had normal ear drops, put them in, and it burned like hell for an hour, needless to say I got proper drops after a couple days and never touched that bad bottle again. The main reason I think it hurt so bad, was due to my perforated eardrums which let the drops get in much deeper.

My worst physical pain would have to be either the stomach cramps and nausea from a reaction to erythromycin, or the back pain after straining it lifting my air conditioner up 4 flights of stairs.

The stinging pain when they do a bloodtest from fingertips is up there as well, while from the elbow area doesn't bother me at all.

This beats out having my bike folded under a car while I'm still on it and burning my hand on the bottom of the car, getting up to 45-50 on rollerblades going downhill, then when slowing down before getting to an area where the sprinklers just went on, winding up doing a double or triple somersault and literally burning a large hole in the back of my pants from the friction when sliding to a stop, having foot surgery where I was supposed to be knocked out but was actually quite awake, and having my skull cracked on my father's class ring in a fight, among other things.

I think a key factor is if your adrenaline is pumping enough beforehand, either from heavy exercise or other reasons, things that should clearly hurt don't.

Migraine that went for two weeks straight and before I was given any meds. And Tylenol does not help. I've had my back go out on me before... from sculeosis and my sister seems to think it's OK to hit a guy in the nads for no reason. Yah pain sucks but I'm just glad I haven't broken anything yet.

Physical wise, a week long case of really bad food poisoning.
My stomach was in knots and any slight movement caused it to hurt like a bitch...

Other pain wise, having my :brokenheart:

1.) I slipped on wet leaves and there was a piece of board underneath, anyway, it sliced my palm to the bone and left a hugh jass splinter in my hand. My dad held my hand down and poured a whole bottle of alcohol (healthy stuff, not drunk stuff) on the wound and mom opened it up and got the pieces out with tweezers. Never got stitches, just slapped some meat on it and wrapped gauze and had to go back out and play ;)

2.) I was holding a small tree as I was cutting it down with a small axe. Well, the axe slipped and hit my finger nail and cut up to the 1st knuckle, shaving the skin and meat off. :Q

3.) Getting my ingrown toe nail taken out by a foot doctor. I am one of those 1 in 1,000,000 or so people that have extra nerves in my body so I had to get 3 anesthetic (sp) shots in my toe. It didnt help that my toe was really really infected. I about broke my dad's hand and the arm of the chair. Never did get any damn ice cream. :(

4.) Left the computer plugged in and ON while I opened the power supply and proceeded to mess with the insides with my handy screw driver and hands. 1 of 83,183 time I have been electricuted. Actually the amount of electricity that constantly goes through my body is amazing. On those testers I send the needle all the way to the right.

5.) Falling off a motorcyle and the oil cap coming off and the oil going out all over my legs and also getting burned really bad on a three wheeler, same type of accident.

6.) I jumped out of the back of a truck while it was going down the road, got a huge concussion. Spent half the night in the hospital and the rest in a neck brace. It screwed up my vision and I still have knots in the back of my head from the gravel.

7.) Having warts removed with acid, not liquid nitrogen, but the acid stuff. OMFG you cant do anything for 2 weeks, but I had them on my finger tips and hands. Just rubbing a feather across them felt like a sledge hammer. Liquid nitrogen does hurt like a mofo as well, but its over in about 8 hours for the most part.

I have plenty more but am tired of typing.

Well, at the moment I don't like him very much either. :( This had to be the worst mother's day ever. :( It's one thing that he's totally ignored his mother (no gift, no phone call, and the card he sent was one I had on hand and totally impersonal) but another thing that he has totally blown off the day for me. No flowers, no card, no breakfast, no clean house, just mad at me for WANTING the house to be cleaned. Apparently, I am a bitch with expectations that are too high. Maybe I am. I was just hoping I would get a little special treatment, and yeah, I was a little cranky when I realized it was just another day. Actually, it wasn't even as good as other days. It is like mother's day is a day of anger and contempt. And knowing his mom, I sort of understand that... but I thought we were getting past that. We really need to get past that.

At this moment, I think emotional pain is about the worst thing there is. :(

And HotChic, thanks for coming to my defense. You know how some people around here are so perfect, they can't imagine anything less. :p
