Really depends on the tat and the girl. A small discrete tat in the right place can be very sexy but more than that usually turns me off.

I have two tattoos, curious george on my back, and a celtic band around my leg. They are for me and not other people.

I plan on getting a permanent ring tattoo'd onto my ring finger, and probably one more as well.

They'll look fine untill i'm 50, and after that I'll just be glad that I'm still alive.

I have two Christian tatoos, most people who know me are surprised. people who look down or think less of people with tatoos just because they have tatoos, are biggoted idiots. It's no different that being racist imo.

Before I got anything done I kinda generalized the people who had obviously picked a few tats of a wall as unimaginative lemmings. I still feel that way.

I considered getting one for years before I actually did anything and then I had one that I knew that no one else had or has. I also got something that is very personal and inspirational.

As far as generalizing education/career levels with tats, I don't think that's possible to do with any accuracy in today's workplace. For example by this time next year I expect to be working for myself as an attorney.

my friend is getting a free tattoo. What a moron... I mean you're going to have it for the rest of your life, get something that means something you dumb ass. The only reason hes geting it is , because its free, and because its trendy. I know others that have gotten tattoos for free as well, it was like a dragon chicken. WTF!?!? show THAT to your mom.

Who pays for the tattoo, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons?

It's usually done as a form of "practice" for the perosn doing it. Usually the final or close to final step in an apprenticeship.

I say your body is a temple paint the walls man... I have many tat's but they all are just plain art work to the outside eye.. no "racist stuff" or death to all type things... when I was in the army we were gonna get a tat of our unit and I am glad I did not do that... mine are all memorials of loved one...the most recent one I have is for my mother that died X-mas a couple years ago

tat seen here.http://img128.echo.cx/img128/4610/picture9mo.jpg

I don't understand the desire. I'm not the type to put bumper stickers on my car either, or go out of my way to make myself an open book without someone making a direct inquiry. If someone wants to learn more about me, they can ask =) I don't feel like I need to show off what I'm all about.

Yeah, but not everyone shows off their tattoos. Like I said, I have them for me.

I don't advertize any thing for any one they are for me as a lasting memory... mine are all either of my heritage or art work for loved ones.. and most of mine cannot be seen if I have normal clothes on...

I actively chose my locations because they're so easy to cover," said Rachel Ulrich, 23, a first-year law student at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. She loves her body art, but her ambitions ultimately guide her decisions. "I really want a huge back piece of Lady Justice, but I won't get it because when I'm president, I'll have to wear a backless evening gown to my inauguration ball and although it'd be neat, it would also give the Republicans more fodder to hate me."

haha, silly girl

I love my tats and can honestly say I don't give a fvck what anyone else thinks. I have eight now including the angel of death on my forearm (my first one). I plan on getting many more. Never had any problems (work, women, old ladies running away screaming etc)

If I live that long I "will be stupid" we come in this world in diapers and that is how we go out. let me tell ya I hope I am gone before that happends...

I'm not a big fan of them. My GF got one when she was 18, its nice for a tat I guess but she sort of regrets it now 3 years later. I could do with out it but whatever its stuck now and I don't mind it to much.

Makes it easy for me to sort the resumes so *shrug* I don't mind them. (I'm joking of course)

The majority of tattoos are outright meaningless. The natural beauty of your skin and who you are is better left "untainted" IMO.

I will say that there are probably some with very meaningful reasons to have them. I just can't think of any.

At the end of the day whatever floats your boat and makes you happy.

I have to disagree. I got my tattoo after age 30 and after I finished my Ph.D. The only ones who see it are my husband, my doctor and me. And I spent nearly a decade working the design and finding and working with a particular artist 🙂

I've got 5 tats. They all are something meaningful to me that I've thought about for a long time. In fact I thought about getting one for over 4 years before I finally did. I just don't get the fad of people getting tattoos just to get tattoos. Why get a tribal design you pulled off a wall? What does it mean to you? Will you still think it's "cool" in 20 years? As far as it hurting your chances at getting a job? Doubtful unless it's on your neck, face, hands, etc. Mine are all easily hidden at work. I've worked with people for years and they didn't know I had tattoos or a pierced tongue.

 See now here is a tatooed who I agree with 100%.

However I'd still hang my tattoo on the wall instead of on my back... or wherever.

I agree too.. a friend of mine has a few Tattoos, all chosen off a wall at random. I can see doing that for the borders on your sleeve or something, but to choose random symbols you don't know the meaning of makes no sense to me.

Add a Poll... DO you have a Tattoo. Let's see how ATOT compares...

Personally I'm fine with having a/some small tattoos but when people have their entire bodies covered it can just look tacky.
