So black comedians can call whites crackers, honkey, whitey...and any other name they come up with and thats ok?

Wow just Wow...

The "lynching" statement was over-the-top. I don't think there's any way to spin/excuse that.

I am appalled and disgusted.

His first mistake was going in the N... direction initially.
His second mistake was to go over the top with it to milk the shock value.
His third mistake was to storm off the stage and not try to mitigate the damage to the audience.
His fourth mistake, and possibly his last, would be to not put out a press release apologizing before the evening news.

In a statement released by Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian said, "I am sick over this. I'm sure Michael is also sick over this horrible, horrible mistake. It is so extremely offensive. I feel terrible for all the people who have been hurt."

Jerry's just worried that people won't buy the DVDs. 😉 Doesn't make any difference to me, it was a funny show, and it's still a funny show. I'm not going to miss out on The Soup Nazi and The Sponge and The Bottle Deposit just because <kanye>Michael Richards doesn't like black people</kanye>. Man season 7 had some great episodes.

QFT. This in no way changes my opinion on what he did during the series.

The audience member CNN interviewed gave about the most inaccurate account of the event possible. I don't think there was anything inaccurate in what he said... some of it he just made up. 😕

That is exactly what I thought. This is why seeing the tape puts it into a slightly better perspective.

Sort of a reverse Rodney King effect, lol.

My own take is that he lost it. He seemed more pissed at being interrupted and stuck back in the way he thought would hurt the most....

It may have started as a joke, and could have ended as one if he hadn't kept going on and on....

oh, and it's the fault of the priest that molested him as a boy....

that's what happens when you're washed up has been scum, you resort to epithets for shock value

He's a has-been, but not a poor one. Didn't they pay the entire Seinfeld cast $1 million each per episode in the last season? He's got a few bucks.

Probably a complete jackass though in person, like 99% of celebrities.

EDIT: After watching that video, it's even worse than I imagined it to be.

why the hell is he still working?

just ride off into the sunset and buy a coffee shop or 10 with your elenty-bajillion dollars.

We always get to hear about how a black kid punching a white kid over being bumped on the basketball court is "justified" because he was disrespected so I'm waiting to hear how his words were "justified" given that he was interrupted.

Just heard this on the radio, then watched the video. Pretty crazy...never seen anyone go insane like that before, much less a bigshot like Kramer...

Even though it did seem as if it was borderline real racism and not just comedic racism, if the tables were turned, and it was a black comic on stage, it wouldn't be news.

Think of him as a racist if you want, but he shouldn't be issuing apologies to anyone. You come to a comedy club, and sit near the front, expect to take a little heat from the comics, ESPECIALLY if you disturb/heckle them. You don't want to be offended, don't go to a comedy club.

How come it's OK for black people to calls white racial slurs, but when whites reply in kind, oh my god, stop the press!

It was still dumb for him to do, since plenty of black people paid money to see him perform. Why alienate all those people when you're just mad at one guy? Watch the friendly fire.

Exactly.

He wasn't in the right here, but if Spike Lee did that to whites, people wouldn't be in an uproar.

Uh, no black comedians just to tend to stereotype on the "cracker" like saying meaningless stuff like it's funny how a white person does this or that. If he or she starts saying kill the white man or whatever offensive thing they say to whites. Then that's a different story. Kramer on the other hand just started to lash out saying about 50 years ago they would've hanged you upside down with a fork up your ass? Also, just starting to say the n-word. Kramer could've done one of 2 things: either ignore them. or just stereotype on how blacks tend to be loud in comedy clubs or at the movie theater. He's a professional he should know better. He's going to apologize tonight at the tonight show.

a few pissed of racial slurs != racist... he lost control, it happens. some people cant control their temper, so what.

Yeah, everyone loses it once in a while.
Then again, if he can't take other peoples $hit then why become a professional comedian? People tend to talk at comedy clubs all the time. He knows that. He had so many other ways to come around the problem. He basically spoke with his mouth and not with his mind. Have I lost respect for him? O yeah you bet.
