What the.... Kramer??

Odd as it may sound, considering what he said, I don't really see this as racially motivated. It seemed more like he was trying to be shocking - he didn't seem genuinely angry to me.

i wasn't there, so i don't know what the heckler was screaming to make the man blow up on stage

kramer likely went overboard, but without witnessing the event in its entirety, i will not judge him

Regardless of motivation or intent, he was very offensive to many and could have jeopardized his career, not to mention tarnished his personal reputation.

This is poor judgment 101.

Would have been nice to have seen the minute or so before the tirade. He's obviously responding to a heckler. I don't particularly agree with his choice of words but still, it would be nice to see what set him off.

I don't think he went too far, if he wants to be a hater and ruin any chance of having a post-seinfeld career, that's his business.

1. Hecklers tick Richards off
2. Richards tries to make a joke out of it.
3. Hecklers continue disrupting him.
4. He loses it, gets pissed off, argues with them
5. ...
6. Profit?

He lost control the minute he got angry enough to yell racial slurs.
Looks real enough I doubt it was staged.

Not really sure how people can say this wasn't racist. Assuming this is real, he absolutely lost it.

When I saw this this morning, I thoght Richards must have been off his meds.

Anywho.... Laugh Factory just "officially" banned Richards from ever performing there again. 😱

He didn't appear to me to be angry. I think he was just trying to be outrageous. I am not condoning his choice of language - it just honestly didn't look to me like he was seriously speaking out of racial animus.

Looks like he got pissed because the people were either heckling him or talking thru his set so he decided to talk some smack to them. Unfortunately he chose the wrong way to go about it.

His first mistake was going in the N... direction initially.
His second mistake was to go over the top with it to milk the shock value.
His third mistake was to storm off the stage and not try to mitigate the damage to the audience.
His fourth mistake, and possibly his last, would be to not put out a press release apologizing before the evening news.

In a statement released by Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian said, "I am sick over this. I'm sure Michael is also sick over this horrible, horrible mistake. It is so extremely offensive. I feel terrible for all the people who have been hurt."

Jerry's just worried that people won't buy the DVDs. 😉 Doesn't make any difference to me, it was a funny show, and it's still a funny show. I'm not going to miss out on The Soup Nazi and The Sponge and The Bottle Deposit just because <kanye>Michael Richards doesn't like black people</kanye>. Man season 7 had some great episodes.
