pretty simple, they have spent money researching and using IE for a long time and they need to make sure that the business apps that work in IE will work in Firefox, if they don't then the company will lose money because of less productivity.

Probably not going to happen. FF is nice and all, but it lacks centralized updates (like SUS/WUS) so many companies block it.

Less exploits (over time an unpatched FF install will have lots of exploits vs a frequently patch IE install) > popups.

so how do you do this?

In IE, go to:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings

and see if there is a proxy script or server info on that page. If so, put that same information in FireFox:

Tools -> Options -> General -> Connection Settings

Because it's a relative unknown from a small vendor and, though the geeks would argue otherwise, it's a noob application. IE owns it.
