hell yeah man, get your parents involved. Have them schedule a parent-teacher conference and try to get a principal there as well. Then have him say to them what he said to you. Then you CIVILLY present your case to him and your parents and see what happens. I swear if my kid was getting shafted in school by an incompetent teacher, I'd do what I could to get him/her fired. That can affect my child's ability to get into a good college and get scholarships. I'd then go to the school board meetings and present my case there as well.

don't fvck with Amigaman's babies beyotch!!!!

Egh, only bring the parents into it as a last resort. It's better if you try to resolve this on your own.

Oh, and he claims he has nothing to lose...except he does. If our mouths slipped, and said something, he could be fired before he could say "stop making excuses"

As of now we have this against him, but don't plan on using it:

1. He asked us to download illegal software (nero)
2. He has a HUGE binder of bootleg cd's/games with him, which he has installed on some computers
3. He allowed us to download illegal music on school computers
4. He offered me extra credit if i figured out how to hack the school firewall so he could surf ebay

If what you're saying here and in your update is true, the teacher sounds completely worthless. I wouldn't hesitate to go after him.

Edit: Proving those things you claim might just boil down to his word vs. yours. And you being the student, you're inherently at a disadvantage. But with that said, there are bad teachers, and it sounds like this is one of them.

My experience with these "general computing"-type classes is that you're better off not challenging the professor and just going along with what he says.

no instructions, just said "do it"

he's too lazy to make any instructions

just stands over you like a dumbass....honestly, it looks like he's watching you, trying to learn from what you're doing.

Maybe you forgot to update drivers for the hardwares?

I would recommend you stop surfing ATOT during class, but your teacher still sounds like a moron.

Wow, what a deustch of a teacher. I had one just like that (im a hs senior accepted to VT). She would twist the grades around and crap and then when you went to check them they were all fed up and so on and so forth. I got a shitload of people together, 6 or 7 and went to the then VP and now principal to complain how this woman was a complete whore and couldnt teach if she was told how. He listened, had a "talk" w/ the teacher, and then all of a sudden she changes. Btw that sucks. Im in a comp systems class and our teachers awesome. Sit around all day and play CS. you should ask to work on his system, get a little static going, and touch his mobo. Thatll teach him. Flippin FLamer.

I was giving that as an example, this specific time, as i said to some other people, he entirely left the room with the rest of the class. Once installed, the screen only had 16 colors, so with 10 minutes remaining in the class, we call him and tell him. He tells us it's in a black binder somewhere in the room. We start looking around, and when he comes back he's pissed we haven't found it. Low and behold, it's in his locked cabinet.

so that can't be the reason

as i said, i only do it since he gives us absolutely nothing else to do. two of the other students download an average of 25 songs per day using ares; and they download software using irc + ares...ATOT isn't that bad :p

plus, if it wasn't allowed, would be blocked by our firewall, which i was so conveniantly asked to hack through ;)

What the sh!t, dude. Take photographic evidence, steal the binder, get him on tape asking about the firewall hacking, all of that.

Teachers are wonderful individuals who help shape the future generation. This asshole does not deserve to be among them.

Get your final grades in print, then throw down the evidence and run through him like a freight train through a cow.

It's too bad you can't go back in time and not take the class knowing the universal truth stated several places above that no computer class in the history of most high schools have ever been worth taking for people who know anything about computers.

It's well past time that you bring up this subject with your parents. The important part is to make sure your parents realize that it's not just you who has this belief/problem. The 90 theory is totally bunk and your parents should definitely agree with you there. Make sure that you don't phrase it like an extended whine / temper tantrum.

Parents have and will always have more weight with the school than a student, because the general assumption is that high schoolers are rebellious and uneducated, and teachers are a somewhat slightly valuable commodity. But parents are more important because they pay taxes and eat the flesh of man when the moon comes out.
