Number one for me would have to be Windows 8 but especially the tablets that will come out. After looking at Windows 8 I finally gave in to the tablet hype and wanted one. If Microsoft can Win 8 right it will be huge, I think.

Number two is a new iPhone or any other great smartphone coming out this year - hell even WP7.

After that I don't have much on my mind. A new console would be cool though.

Better display technology!!!

I want CRT style black levels and contrast, with today's cheap panel pricing.
I want 4K projectors to drop in price
I want laptops to not have such shitty resolution on their screens.
I don't want "LED Backlit" I want true LED monitors with super thin profiles, OLED or "Crystal LED" come to mind.

I want awesome black levels, awesome contrast, great pixel density, and cheap prices... And this year ... I think we'll see some improvements in all fronts!

While not "tech" in a traditional sense, I'm eager to see if Mazda finally brings over their high torque, uber high MPG diesel engines.

windows 8
tablets
curious how cell phones get better if they do.

PSvita is amazing hardware. just feel sony is going to blow it. i was not impressed with the PSP

I really want a lower priced OLED TV; I blew my wad watching the video of that 55" OLED from LG at CES, so I would love something like that if I can find a 46-50" one for under 5K.

I'd also like to have Google TV on my new set; looking at the new iterations of this, again from CES, I like where it going. Ideally I would love to get a TV with both of these things for under, oh I don't know, 5K this year, but we'll see. Not sure the likelihood of that.

Affordable solar. Specifically I'd like to see progress on printable solar arrays. Then I could have an uber cool t-shirt with a printed solar panel powering my printed oled display ad.

This, as well as better energy storage methods. I think that gadgets have gotten far too gimmicky and it will take some kind of core improvement for me to be impressed.

Windows 8
+1 to the better display technology comment.

Don't give a crap about the latest iGadget.

better displays, and 16:10 or squarer at that. some people still have to do work with their gadgets.

1366x768 for a 15" notebook is a fricking joke. it's a joke for a 12" notebook. i'm quite happy that tablets are about to surpass that by a ton.

I don't get the fascination between a tv that is 4inches of an inch? I still hang it on my wall either way.

4k is the future but not now. No source material in 4k unless you download stuff and then you have the bit rates as well...1080p looks great for now, but it'll be sweet to have a 4k tv with 4k material at high bit rates 😀

I'm more excited about whatever the iphone5 brings.

PS Vita looks cool. I may get one. I paid £330 for the PSP back in 2003 from Japan with Ridge Racer and that Luminos or Lumines game? LOL

Well, a thin TV is pretty damn cool. Christ, ten years ago I bought myself a flat CRT TV and thought that was pretty hot shit for my dorm room. The reduction in the depth and weight while coupled with the huge increase in screen size over the past decade has been phenomenal for somebody that remembers my dad getting excited over buying the largest Trinitron available (32").

But the other thing is that it lends itself to the potential for integration in other things. There are already lab demos of OLED on foldable plastic. We can start expecting high quality displays being integrated in more products and places at more reasonable prices.
