i mean Eax and A3d games, creative 3500 or midiland 8200 or the Altec Lansing ADA880 4.1 AC3 Speakers.???

heard that midiland 8200 does not support eax or a3d.

"The SPDIF digital input or optical input is used for 5.1 Dolby Digital audio only. The ADS2000 will decode the signals for 5.1 output to the speakers. If you feed digital signals without AC3 encoding (e.g. games), you'll only get stereo output, as far as I understand. However, you can always enhance it with Dolby Pro Logic, but that's not true EAX. Pro Logic can give pretty surprising effects though....
So, in essence, gaming with the 8200 will not take advantage of the EAX feature on the SB Live since it's not possible to take advantage of the four point output from the card as there's no way you can feed these signals to the 8200. However, I believe there's a way around it, like what virenque suggested. I'll try to get hold of the speakers again to test out an idea which I've put on hold for a very long time already."

the above paper is from www.hardwarezone.com

I plan to buy SB Live D.E 5.1 (only in asia, interface is same as platinum 5.1 minus the Live drive).

Can someone kindly help me? Please...........

Well I have the Altec Lansing ACS 45.2 and I think they're excellent speakers, nowhere near as fancy as that setup (yours is for home theater I think?) but excellent nonetheless. Not sure how to find out about EAX or A3D support?

I'd suggest headphones for games. You don't get any outside noise, and pick up every little sound.

With the Videologic DigiTheatre, you can get both 4.1 and 5.1 by using a switch box.

You can use the digital SPDIF for 5.1, and the two analogue jacks for front and rear sound for 4.1.

LOL! tell that to Insane3D

9lives, the 8200 should be fine with both eax and a3d. Those two formats work on both analog and digital connections. Your best bet, however, is to get a Phillips Acoustic Edge soundcard instead of the Live 5.1. You'll get better surround sound with QMSS. The midiland speakers will get full surround since QMSS maps any stereo source and puts it in 4.1 or 5.1
Just my advice...

I will put in a vote for the Klipsch Promedia V2.-400. :) Only 4.1, but you asked for gaming. And if you use the two mini-din stereo connections from a SB Live! you get stereo front and stereo rear. Works great with EAX. You won't get any sort of Dolby Digital with out a DD decoder or software DD decoder and even then it will be 4.1 not 5.1.
