60" Panasonic plasma, thinking about buying a 65" plasma and putting the other one in the basement for workout videos etc.
The price jump from 60" to 65" is hard to swallow though for the extra real estate.

55" Panny Plasma sitting about 7 feet from it. We mostly watch occasional TV but I also use it as a monitor for a PC hooked up to it.
For movies, I go downstairs.

65" Samsung LED in the living room, 50" in the bedroom. I also would love to go 84"4K once the prices come down a lot.

I'd say it is almost pointless to go from a 60 to 65". Hold out for a worthy upgrade, 80"+.

Which means abandoning plasma, too.

If the current 60" plasma is old enough, the *T60 series (2013) models will be a big enough upgrade in PDP quality, especially in the blacks department.

I agree, when getting a new TV, going from 60" to 65" is hardly a worthwhile upgrade for Screen Size, it COULD be a worthwhile upgrade in Image Quality. That's up to the person with the money to decide. :)

Considering I have a 50", I have only one size in mind as a "worthwhile upgrade" - and that's a moderate-throw projector creating a 10' or larger image. :)
That would be a sort of dedicated home theater, for sure. Depending on when and where I am when this happens, I'd like to have a large display in such a home theater room, and a drop-down screen that hangs right in front of a "smaller TV" and the front speakers and whatnot. Could be a good spot for the 50", or that could be a living room TV and another TV gets the backup duty in the home theater.

I'd watch movies and play some games on a projector, but for a lot of TV, I probably wouldn't want to waste bulb life on it. And since plasma's will have superior blacks to even the top-end projectors, that's a good backup. :)

Sorry for the digression. It happens. :p

One of those big rear projector 50" but we're leaving it behind when new house is finished around February. Our thoughts are at least 65" in new house. It will be fun to pick out a new tv. Been a long time since we did that.

These threads are sort of worthless without pics and/or dimensions.

I have a 46" Sony which is undersized now.

I watch most of my movies on my 24" NEC monitor in my office.

65 panny ST30. Sit about 8 feet from it. Also have a 50inch ST60 in the bedroom.

ST60 gets brighter and has deeper blacks, but once calibrated using a colorimeter and argyllcms/MadVR, there's not really that big of a difference, especially if you target 30ftl

70" from just under 10'. Would like the 80 or 90 or about 110" projector screen though.

My 60" has the annoying "fluctuating brightness" problem that didn't show up until it was well out of warranty, and as far as I know there is no way to fix it without paying through the nose to have a dealer fix it. It's not horrible, but annoying enough (especially watching sports) that it would give me an excuse to buy a new t.v. and relegate it to workout video duty in the basement for her.

If Panasonic wasn't the only plasma game in town I'd consider another brand as the issue has left me mighty annoyed at them.
