Just wondering what size tv do most of you have in your living room? Right now i have an old rear projection tv that im going to get rid of for an led. That was about a 51 inch but the display is a 4:3(a lot of unused space on the screen lol).

Currently 51", older Sony HDTV
Will eventually replace with a 55" which should be perfect for the space.

Some of this depends on layout and how far you sit from the TV. The farthest seat is about 7' from mine so I don't see us going much larger. Besides - I'd just go downstairs if I wanted a larger screen

60", but I'm eyeing that 84" Sony 4K set to jump on it as soon as there is a substantial price drop.

The only thing I hate about my 70" tv in the living room is that it makes the 55" in the master bedroom look so tiny when I watch it...[/FirstWorldProblems] LOL

50" plasma, it replaced a 42" RPTV in a corner...I thought I was really pushing it with a 50", but it looks like I might even be able to fit a 55incher in that corner.

I had a 32" 720p LCD from 2006 that I just replaced a few months ago with a 50" Panny plasma.
It's not big enough dammit. lol
That said, in the apartment, I'm sitting further from the TV then I ever sat from my other TV (not counting the time I was looking at that small TV in the apartment as well), so the overall FOV ratio is probably pretty close to previous locations of my small TV, like in the dorms and a bedroom at home.
I'm just sad that, by the time I can afford a much larger Panny, they won't be around to buy. In this room, 65" would be great, hopefully I can get closer to it in the next place. But ultimately, I think I'm hoping to move the "home theater" experience to a high-quality projector when I can afford that. Wonder if OLED can ever be incorporated into a projector? LCD is but LCD has always required a backlight anyhow - OLED doesn't utilize backlight, but on it's own wouldn't have enough light for a projector setup. That's the one thing now that I've owned a plasma - I wouldn't want to sacrifice black levels to move up - so a projector will not be cheap. lol
Hopefully it doesn't take 5 years for large (65+) OLED TVs from finding what is actually an affordable price bracket. Probably will take longer than that, but I'd like to dream. Or if someone would finally come out with an entirely new approach. Man, I remember the SED display tech that, I think it was Toshiba and Canon, were developing, that was delivering absolutely impressive results. Of course, like half of the good things in this world, sometimes good tech is handled by the developing company rather terribly, and this research basically died due to failures and liquidation.

down stairs its a 55, main seat is ~14 feet away, oppsite wall, with a comple seats closer because or couch placements
