What should I write to my sponsored child?

I chose to sponsor a child through Children International. Her name is Meilis and she lives in Barranquilla, Columbia. I just got a letter from her today and I really want to write a return letter. Unfortunately, I have no experience writing anything to children. Anyone here ever been in my situation, and can give me ideas of what to write about?

BTW, if I write out a letter, could someone translate it into Spanish for me?
