What should I do? Involves a girl on the bus.

Ok, there is this cute girl on the bus, right.
Well sometime last week she caught me looking at her, I mean there was nothing I could do. I couldn't turn/look away or anything. Normally she wears jean, t-shirts, a little makeup, and tennis shoes. She also usually sits near the front of the bus in the seats that face forward. While I sit on the back bench or rear seats the face across the bus. Well today she sat right across from me(yes there were open seats up front), trust me this is big because she has never(to my knowledge) sat in the back of the bus. She had on a good bit of makeup(way more than usual) and a nice tight, white shirt(you know the knit/I dunno the non t-shirt fabric kinda. The kind they like to wear to bars or when they go out) and short khaki skirt w/ sandals. Anyway so shes reading a paper and glancing a me every once in a while. I can also tell she's smiling from time to time. Anyway so I'm freaking out mentally , I dunno what do to so I pretend to ignore her(my defense mechanism, always has been). I try not to stare at her and pretend to look at other things. I didn't smile that I can remember and I certainly didn't say anything. So this is the part thats eating me, when she left the bus she didn't seem happy as in she looked like she might have had tears in the corner of her eyes. Now I think its my fault and I don't know what to do.

I'm a bad person.

Uh hello? Make small talk with her? I dont know why she would be on the verge of crying, but since you have a slight problem not noticing her I wouldnt put it past you that she was not in fact on the verge of tears.

She probably wasn't going to cry but she did look saddened. As for the bus, its the city bus that comes by all the apartments on our street to take people to class at UGA.
I probably should have said hi or something but I haven't mae small talk with a girl since like 6th grade. I have never been on a date or anything and am totally clueless when it comes to girls. I know its sad but just a really shy person.

Holy crap man. You go to college and havent had "small talk" with a girl in 7+ years?

You know NOTHING about her. Small talk is just finding out things about her. "You go to UGA?" "What major?" "What year?" "Where did you go to HS?" and follow up each with more questions. Ask her when her classes are over for the day. Tell her to meet you up someplace and get a bite to eat.
