What should I ask for

Ok, I wrote a story a few months back about how I had bought a brand new HHR and had been having problems with the factory installed remote starter not working. After 5 months of back and forth with an uncooperative dealership and GM they call me today to tell me that they had resolved the issue.

Now my question is this. I have spent a considerable amount of time taking time off work to drop my car to the dealership and having long calls with GM about the issue. They told me they want to offer me something for my trouble but want to know what I think is fair. I am unsure of what to ask for. I already have most of the options that are easily installed on the vehicle such as the remote start, premium sound system, running boards, roof rails, factory mats, XM radio etc.

Please keep this to serious and sane requests. I dont want to hear ridiculous requests, but what you guys think is a fair.

I have now taken the vehicle in 7 times for repair...

Can you ask for money? I don't think I'd want to have them install anything electrical...

Sounds like an extended warranty might be a good start. Could also go for upgraded wheels/tires if that kind of thing appeals to you. Maybe free OnStar for life, if your vehicle is equipped with it...

A lot of stock at $3/share... right now - about 1000 shares. After Bush gets done you should be able to cash out and buy a real car like a toyota or something.

I can ASK for anything, but what they will agree to is another story entirely...

P.S.

You bought an HHR LOL

I actually like the car, small utility vehicle with good gas mileage and a decent ride. I dont care if it looks like a turd on wheels. I'm married with a kid, I'm not trying to impress anyone.

Shit then I'd go for some sort of special extended warranty like someone said above. You got screwed over with the car for some time, make sure they're gonna fix it in the future.

I already have the extended warranty to 5 years and was thinking of asking for 5 years onstar with navigation butr the life of the vehicle sounds good too.

Tires dont matter to me, I'm a family guy and don't need anything fancy.

Technically yes, my lawyer cousin said he would represent, but I didnt want to go through the hassle. I wanted to exhaust my options with the company first.

As stated in your other thread, this is just as much your fault as GM's. You refused to take it to a different dealership when the one you were taking it to sucked.

You also didn't do any research to find out that factory installed remote starts suck. They are made by Code Alarm which is now owned by Audiovox. You got the cheapest and most unreliable remote starter known to man. You got what you paid for.

Should've gone with the Nissan Rogue. We were looking between the Rogue, the Ford Escape, and the HHR. After driving the Escape and Rogue I didn't even go back to GM. Then we got a good deal on the Rogue, so we're happy.

I vote for the extended warranty as well. If you decide to sell after 5 years it'll be nice having a few extra years of warranty left to increase resale.

ask for an extended warranty...

That seems pretty reasonable. According to the GM site, the HHR comes with 3 years/60000km, so tell them other companies offer things like 5yr/100000km so maybe they can offer something like that.

Point 1- I did ask to go to another dealership, they told me I should really stick with this one since they have been (poorly) working with the situation.

Point 2 - I shouldnt need to research every single part on the car, it got decent reviews so I went with it, do you research who makes the bolts on your car to make sure they dont break? No, you assume they WORK AS ADVERTISED!!!!! I was sold a car with remote start capabilities, they are therefore OBLIGATED to provide such service.

I can see where you got your name, you are a rude a-hole.....

how much blow and how many hookers can fit in the back?

Why don't you add up the hours you have spent at the dealership, on the phone and multiply it by your hourly income. You may also try to claim the expenses for finding alternative transportation. Give them a fair dollar amount (actually a little higher) and see what they say.
