I don't like to machine wash my 1 MX shirts. Somehow one of mine got fscked up, it lost some color around the collar and I can't figure out why. I didn't wash it with anything but detergent. I can't figure it out, oh well. First article of clothing I've ever ruined, somehow.
I like to get mine drycleaned, at least when I'm wearing them to work. I think it makes a better impression, I can't iron them and get to look nearly as nice as pressed.

They did, but she told me this happens when you dry them yourself. The tag says wash cold/dry low, and even when you do that the collars and wrists WILL fade to an orangeish.

Here is my opinion on the 1MX shirts: I've worn more this summer than in my entire life thus far. I wear em to work, and then get them laundered and pressed at a dry cleaners. Well, I decided to wash one myself and dry it on low, and the dye started to fade away and it revealed an orangeish color around the collar.
I went to take it back and she said that you really aren't supposed to wash them yourself. A lot of Express clothes seem this way - they don't really hold up well, and a large number of their clothes are dry clean only, and I think that's a sign of shoddy fabrics and dyes. I can buy a kenneth cole pair of pants, a pair of their producers, and I can wash/dry the kenneth coles on my own but I can't the Express ones because they shrink/fade really fast.
I think I might start looking into some other brands, most of what I wear now is Express and I do seem to notice a trend that they don't hold up as well.

Well, I can say that their shirts do fade over time, but not any worse than any other brand. I've come to realize that dress shirts have to be dry cleaned if you want them to maintain their original colors. I've attempted to wash D&G, Express, Geoffrey Bean, and Nautica. They will all fade when dried in a dryer. Using Woolite and letting them hang dry will significantly reduce the amount of fading. The question is why do this when you can get a shirt dry cleaned for under a buck? It isn't worth the hassle for me to do it or buy starch, Woolite, etc. I have Express Jeans and shirts that are years old and have held up well. The only company I've had to consistently break on me is American Eagle and Old Navy. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope I don't have any of your problems.
