1. Babylon 5
2. ST: TNG
3. Space: Above and Beyond

Honourable mentions: Sliders, ST: DS9, Lexx. Not too many people seemed to have seen eps of Above and Beyond. It's really worth checking out, even if there's only a season or two worth of episodes. Who wants to know what happens at the end? ;)

Bab-5 had me hoping that I would'nt like get killed or anything before I saw the conclusion...

I could just imagine getting hit by a car while biking, and being in the emergency room with like an hour to live begging the doctor's to call UPN and have them tell me how it came out...

I know, sick, but thats just how good I thought it was...

I realy liked star trek deep space nine. sure the first few seasons sucked(they had sucky stories and the station had no useful perpuse).Since voyager started they lost even more popularity witch lent to beter stories(dominion war anyone? That rocked).

0sully, didn't Coop use a comic book to warn this cute little alien they met that people were going to invade, and that cute little alien turned out to be a Chig without armor? That was last episode I saw . . .

I loved that show. It's not saying much, but Above and Beyond was actually better than the piece of cinematic dreck that is Starship Troopers.

Xerox Man: Okay, as far as I know that was the 3rd from the end. Now, everybody who hasn't seen the show yet and plans to, back away from this thread now.

SPOILER AHEAD. DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER!

Last episode: The 58th squadron is sent down to a Chig prison camp to rescue the Tellus and Vesta colonists held there (including Kylen Celina). At the same time, an ambassador from the Chigs meets McQueen and the founder of Aerotech (name slips my mind now) to discuss a possible peace treaty. Apparently the aliens were sending out warning signals about colonizing "their" region of space, but the messages were ignored by this founder guy. The ambassador believes the war and the lives lost on both sides is solely his fault, and activates a suicide bomb, killing the founder of Aerotech, injuring McQueen and killing the ambassador himself.

I think this means: No peace anytime soon.

Meanwhile the 58ths are having one hell of a time trying to get away from the prison planet. They're flying heavy personnel carriers and not their own Hammerheads, so this is no walk in the park...basically, Shane detaches her portion of the carrier and lays down covering fire for the retreating forces, but is pulled down by the gravity of the planet (bye Shane). Vanessa, who I thought as the poorest fighter of the bunch, is forced to eject and is cast adrift in a escape pod before an alien fighter zeroes in and picks her off (bye Vanessa). Taking heavy damage, Wang, who has been manning the turret on the HPC, ejects it and himself also in order to defend the retreat (bye Wang). Only Coop, West and Kylen make it out of there. Damn.

There's actually one more episode but I think it was just played out of order. Everybody is alive once again and McQueen goes after that new, indestructible Chig fighter. Guess who wins - a return to the heroes-always-prosper TV ideal. I thought it was indestructible?!

Well, it was one hell of a show. Loved the CGI, grit and mood of the show throughout. Typical of Fox to cancel a show truly worth appreciating.

0Sully,

Wow! I wonder if they're coming out on DVD anytime soon . . .

That episode with the indestructible fighter ("Chiggy von Richtofen? ;)) was supposed to be right after the Colonel Diggs episode - the one with the new jerk colonel who died. At the end of the episode they threw pancakes into outer space . . .

I was hooked on the show at the end of the pilot when Coop plugs The Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop" into his audio player and plays it over the intercom . . . :D

For those who want to see (IMHO) the best sci-fi series ever, the Sci-Fi channel will start airing Babylon 5 in un-cut widescreen form on Monday night. If you don't know much about the show, it was written as a 5-season series that draws heavily from Homeric tradition and Shakespeare in its form. It is definitely the most well-written sci-fi series ever made. The first season can be a little cheesy and melodramatic at times, but they were still experimenting with the format. Unlike most other sci-fi shows, the characters of Babylon 5 change and evolve throughout the five seasons. The coolest part is watching out for all the little clues that they give you about what will happen in the upcoming seasons...there were some segments of the show that were shot during first season, but never shown in their entirety until fourth or fifth season.

I've loved the shows that never got a chance:

Strange Luck
VR.5
Brimstone
Harsh Realm
Dark Skies (Although if this didn't end, we'd have no Seven of Nine.)
The Others
Millenium
Earth 2

Anyone noticed that D.B. Sweeny was in Strange Luck and Harsh Realm. Does Fox hate this man?

Also love(d) the the series that are on or were on:

STTNG
STDS9 (I loved the Prophets/Emissary story and Dominion War.)
STV
Earth : Final Conflict (Yes, I like this.)
X-Files
Outer Limits (Is it me or was there only one episode where the was actually a happy ending?)
Poltergeist: The Legacy (Early episodes. The later ones just got too self-involved.)
Buffy
Angel
Roswell

And my favorite Sci-Fi series of all time has to be:

Stargate SG-1

I know, I watch far too much tv.

Earth2 started out very well but then it tanked when they shifted the focus on to the two annoying kids. that killed the show right there. Hammy, annoying kids...bleh!!
