So, competing against an abusive monopoly 10X the size is a difficult environment? Imagine my surprise. Wait, does that mean bundling your substandard, anemic graphics processors with your abusive monopoly driven CPU sales good for consumers?

Actually, amd is not even half the size of Intel. They're for sure nowhere near 10x their size. Their apu's are for sure anemic, though. What was your point again?

Do you have a point for being in this thread except to crap all over it with BS?

You mean those of us who don't agree with troll threads can't disagree in them? I guess that means I should start my own "What role did amd play in the NSA backdoor debacle..." thread, then?

No what I mean is you made 3 posts in a row in this thread (now 4), ALL of them having a go at AMD, who have very little to do with the thread topic.

Fortunately for consumers, a high performance, highly efficient, highly adopted open standard and platform is entering the market. I'm sure you've no objections.

First, let's not mince words, this thread is a troll from start to finish.

Secondly, Intel is not a monopoly. Computing does NOT consist of only Microsoft and x86 devices any longer - the competitors intel has to worry about includes Quallcom, nvidia, Samsung, Apple, etc. The average consumer device, these days, probably does not have an intel CPU. Intel was a monopoly perhaps 10-15 years ago, when every computing device consisted of Microsoft and x86. That is no longer the case.

Sure, the premise being that AMD's CEO was on Obama's technical advisory board. oh, wait...

I noticed you can't even bring yourself to capitalize AMD even though your signature implies you are a grammar Nazi. Does that make you a troll? I know I was banned for not spelling intel correctly on these forums.

Which other current x86 manufacturer would you prefer me to mention?

I assume the NSA bought a lot of servers to do whatever number crunching they need to do?

And this is in the CPU forum because?

Because reports are that that is where backdoors are implemented, coupled with the fact that intel's CEO was on Obama's technical advisory board makes a compelling and suspicious case for that possibility.

I was following your lead. You've never once on these forums capitalized Intel, so in your troll threads, I refuse to capitalize amd. Any other time, I always capitalize any acronym.

http://www.afr.com/p/technology/intel_chips_could_be_nsa_key_to_ymrhS1HS1633gCWKt5tFtI

One of Silicon Valley’s most respected technology experts, Steve Blank, says he would be “surprised” if the US National Security Agency was not embedding “back doors” inside chips produced by Intel and AMD, two of the world’s largest semiconductor firms, giving them the possibility to access and control machines.

AMD denied it though - http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/32120-amd-denies-existence-of-nsa-backdoor

Intel hasn't, as far as I'm aware. Note that doesn't mean they are guilty of course - they possibly believe it's so ridiculous as to not be worth commenting on.

lol, this is too funny.

Sorry that does not match the 'report' you linked, which is in fact simply a speculation (no different than what you are doing). None of the leaks from Snowden, i.e. an actual source, have indicated hardware backdoors by intel or AMD.

A spokesperson for Intel says there’s “no basis for these highly speculative claims” that the US National Security Agency may embed “back doors” inside chips produced by Intel and AMD

That's the first line of the story, above the opening paragraph. Don't ask me why the idiots chose to put in underneath the picture.
