what resolution do you run?

Why is the most common resolution used on the very bottom of the poll? Did the OP forget to put the most common resolution in there and finally added it in later?
Almost didn't see it at all...

<- 1280x1024 on a 19"

same.

Though the standard in the general population is 1024x768, due to all the noobs still using 17" CRTs (okay, by noobs I mean older people).

my actual desktop at home is 1680+1280+1280 * 1050 = 4240 * 1050, buit I voted 1680 since that's my main screen.

Work is 1152x864.

Laptop is 1024*768

so, I design for 1024, figuring it'll be a good minimum.

there's a whole load of 15" LCDs out there, and there's nothing wrong with them or a 17" CRT...

All those 19" CRTs are likely to be 1280x960, 21" are either 1280x960 or 1600x1200...

Home: sometimes 1920x1440, sometimes 1856x1392 for better refresh on 19" CRT, with the TV nearby as a 2nd monitor at 640x480.
Work: 1280x1024 because our LCDs here are teh suck. Especially frustrating when doing ASP.NET development.

you are aware that is an incorrect aspect ratio for a CRT i hope?

you should be running it at 1280x960.

if you want to retain the correct aspect ratio.
Biggest computer fallacy of all time. CRTs have this little buttons/dials that adjust the height and width of the image. Thus, CRT images are almost always not 4:3. The chance of you having it adjusted to exactly 4:3 is slim to none - unless you actually purposely measured the image size. And face it, the general population does not measure the image to ensure it is exactly 4:3. Since the image isn't 4:3, why must the resolution be 4:3?
