Not true. It takes faith to believe that a god doesn't exist.

I disagree. Atheism is the lack of a belief. An atheist doesn't believe that god doesn't exist. An atheist doesn't believe that god exists. Distinct difference.

Unless you are talking gnostic atheists. But when people refer to atheists they typically refer to agnostic atheists.

In the same sense that it takes faith to believe that you're not made of 537 chickens.

No it doesn't. I know what a chicken is and I know what I am and they are two different things. That was probably the biggest fail I've read on the internet today.

WRONG.

People need to fucking learn what the fuck Gnostic means and what the fuck Agnostic means.

He posted a link, you did not. I'd rather accept his link as carrying more conversational weight than your "NUH UH! NUH UH!" comments.

By your logic, your belief that you're not made of chickens is merely based on faith and is a religious belief.

If I raised a child in complete an utter ignorance of ALL religions. That is I never taught the child that the very concept of religion exists and shielded that child from such knowledge. Does that child not believe in god by faith?

Ok, regardless, ignore all them and go read daw123's post. Good information in there.

It's a fucking terrible read.

It's like someone who doesn't know two shits from his own dick telling you what a Gnostic is...

People like that should be shot in the balls and never permitted to breed for their fucking stupidity is the pitted stain on humanity's intelligence.

I think ... that it wouldn't matter, as long as you're not the one teaching them English. :awe:

Ok you got me there. Actually my english is good my punctuation and spelling suck.

At any rate my point is that why does atheism require as you put it "faith to believe in NO god". The point that you are missing is that the very nature of deities gods and the like are human creations. Much like Rumpelstiltskin is a human literary creation. Our point is that atheism ISN'T a "belief" that there is no god. It's simply the default human condition. If I tell you enough about Rumpelstiltskin, leprecauns, unicorns and the like and say that I believe that they exist does that mean that you no longer know that they don't exist simply because I posit so strongly that they DO? To say this is the case is tantamount to logical blackmail.
