Free Thinker (Atheist)

This is the closest answer to reality for me, but it's still not much closer to reality than picking a religious answer.

Why do I have to choose from both ends of the spectrum? Toss "agnostic" into the poll and I'll vote.

From the Freedom from Religion Foundation website

You see a person who is a free thinker couldn't believe in a god, because theri is not rational reason too. Faith in a diety goes against what a free thinker is, because it is not based on logic or rationality.

You're citing an organization (a non-religion religion), as opposed to the definition of the words "free" and "thinker".

Firstly it's important to understand that "free thinker" is a completely invented term. Secondly, I don't think it's necessarily true that it's impossible to conclude there is a god based purely on rational and reasoned thought.

Also, I know people are talking shit when they use the word "logic" in a conversation like this - go back to school and learn what logic is, because there's no reason you couldn't logically believe in god.

:hmm:

You are starting to sound smarter than you used to sound...

Poll is flawed. Free-thinkers aren't necessarily atheists, and atheism should not be listed (or be listed as "none").

this

also where is agnostic, by far the most reasonable take on religion?

agnostic: One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God

really, you don't know!

I don't care about religion. There's already enough hatred and death without religion. Why interject more unnecessary factors to have a reason to dislike another person based on differences?

"The only appropriate attitude for man to have about the big questions, is not the arrogant certitude that is the hallmark of religion, but doubt. Doubt is humble and that is what man needs to be, considering that human history is just a litany of getting shit dead wrong." -- Bill Maher

silly religion threads always result to arguing about semantics over what to call each other and what you identify with.

I'm an atheist. I never said I believe god doesn't exist.
