For me... I like pouring a glass of scotch, taking it out to my deck where a hot tub sits, turning on the outdoor speakers by said hot tub, and then sliding on into the warm water... enjoying my scotch and tunes while watching the northern lights dance overhead.

Hmm, I know what I'm doing tonite...

Road trips.
Smoking a cigarette at night ( i quit 3 years ago BTW).
Of, I forgot to mention camping. Nothing like sitting around a campfire drinking a few beers.

Somethings I used to find relaxing:

- biking under certain conditions: wide open spaces, no cars, cool wind in my hair...
- walking in the park.
- hiking
- smoking pot and listening to music like Pink Floyd.
- smoking sheesha/hookah.

Sadly, life isn't so good these days. I honestly can't remember the last time I was really relaxed... must've been sometime October or November.

Music according to mood and alertness level
sitting out on the 'oval' and enjoying the fresh air, especially if its a normal spring sunny day with a light breeze
patapon - is just perfect to wind down my overactive brain at night
sipping on this Van Gogh coffee vodka my sis and brother in law got me as a gift. shaken and served with ice. perfect after a day consisting of two killer finals

if I lived near the ocean, simply sitting enjoying the breeze towards sundown. I do this when I get the chance near an ocean, but rare. I can just stare out to see and down the shoreline for hours. the night comes.. I just want to lay down in the sand and stare up at the stars, waves crashing is the perfect ambient background and the breeze puts away all thoughts. I basically end up meditating. Ugh. Now I'm bummed I have no ocean nearby to do this right now.
browsing the net, slumped in my chair and having music play nonstop is an easy way for me to unwind, and waste a lot of time
a good pouch of snus while doing nearly any of the above things makes it that much better, especially music and walking on a nice day with a light breeze. that fresh decent temperature air just completely calms me and gives me energy. doing only a couple pouches of snus a day keeps that effect lasting too. it's always a bonus though, never really feel like I need it, which is how I keep it, makes it a nice treat... use it for class sometimes too, helps with concentration.

Paddling out at 6:30am for an hour long surf session. The most relaxing time is just itting there waiting for the wave to come as I look out over the horizon. It just brings me back to when i was a kid in wonderment over the sea.

Holding my two girls in my arms (when the 6mo is NOT crying)

A big hug from my wife.

Seems like an oxymoron, but playing cs relaxes me as well. (maybe not so much relax but make me forget about things while i'm focused on the game)

Watching any hayao miyazaki flick (i.e castle in the sky, princess mononoke, kiki's delivery service, howl's moving castle, etc. etc.)

Sitting in an old wooden rocker that used to be my mothers before she passed away.

Rubbing the belly of my calico, maguai (she'll always turn on her back purring when I go near her for me to rub her belly :) good times).

When my wife falls asleep next to me or with her head laying on me, I just look down and it makes me smile to see how peaceful she looks.

When my cats fall asleep on me also :p

Hiking in the woods to a waterfall or just sitting on the porch of a cabin I go to a lot in the mountains and just rocking in the rocking chair and widdling away at making a new walking stick or whatever else.

Farming Fel Iron in Hellfire Peninsula in World of Warcraft . No idea why I find it relaxing as it's just a tedious thing you do in the same pattern, but I always enjoyed just riding around doing it for some reason. No other area (even doing the same action: mining) was as nice.

For more normal things...

Going for a drive with the windows down and no one else on the road :).

Sleeping!

Your wife doesn't mind. In fact, you've never once heard her say anything about it.
