What relaxes you?

I am curious as to what my fellow ATOTr's find relaxing.

The ones that come to my mind at the moment are:

Late at night after feeding my youngest son his bottle, he falls asleep in my arms/across my chest. I have woken up hours later still holding him like that. I just finished laying him down is what brought this whole thing to my mind.

Standing outside during a snow fall at night. Especially if out in the woods or anywhere else away from society.

Getting a hug from my wife after a LONG day

Anyway, what are your favorite ways to relax?

Ahh... I have so much to say. Let me reserve this spot first.

-Solitary outdoor jogging. When I hit that runner's high as the endorphins kick in... breathing is 100% regulated, your mind is absolutely clear, you're focusing on the finish line. I love it when I do some solitary jogging. It's a great way to spend time with myself. I think about my family, myself, career, love, relationships, everything. It's not physically relaxing but I always feel GREAT during and after a jog.

-A glass of Cragganmore 12 yo reserve and myself. I'm a healthy drinker. I never drink alone when sad or depressed. The only times I do is to celebrate. I treated myself to a glass of Cragganmore when I got promoted. I purposely time the took to drink it by myself so I can think about where I am and pat myself in the back... ahh... nice.

-Snowboarding. Just me and the slopes.

-Taking a niiiiiiice beautiful Saturday nap on a summer afternoon with the windows wide open... feeling the cool breeze, the lullaby of the rustling leaves, the distant giggle and the laughter of jr league playing baseball.

I guess these are all MENTALLY and EMOTIONAL refreshing and relaxing.. not so much physical.

wow i sound shallow 🙁 Those are in fact truthful answers, but I'll go with some less vulgar answers next:

My daughter (almost 3yo) scratching my head and/or back while snuggling

Hanging out w/ my wife on the couch w/ her head in my lap (non-sexual) or on my shoulder

Playing 2 person spades

Watching a movie I very much enjoy for the 100th time, as in I don't care if I fall asleep during it, it is just familiar

Come to think of it, anything quiet and familiar relaxes me

I have alot to say, but here are a couple.

Shooting people online in a Random Shooter

Playing GOW2, and killing everyone by grabbing them.

Shooting a hopper of Paintballs at a target in my backyard.

Playing any video game mostly

Reading a Book

meditation cd's, a set of headphones, and a nice place to lay flat on my back ftw

there's a cd called Guided Meditation by Kelly Howell (look it up on amazon)

20 minutes laying flat on your back, comfortably, in headphones and this "music" will send you off into a day dream. super cool, as it makes you feel floaty afterwords and super relaxed.

that or smoke a doob!

Quiet time at home alone
Various music, usually calm female vocals, such as Enya or Sarah McLachlan
Laying down in a sunbeam on a cushy carpet
Imagining billions upon billions of galaxies and stars drifting through expanding space

Laying in my bed with headphones listening to ethereal music, which takes me to another world, thats THE BEST!

Also hearing someone talk.. specially a sexy/charming female voice.. even phone chats, I can go on forever when I like the voice, it just makes me feel great all around

The first thing that came to my mind was sleeping with my girlfriend.... I really mean sleeping too. When I lay down next to her after a long day's work, I jam my body completely against her, she readjusts, and pushes back... when we're both comfortable, it's amazingly relaxing 🙂

There are many more... kinda like:

-Cruising in my car with the windows open when its ~65F outside listening to some good music (Red Hot Chili Peppers). On back country roads with no stoplights.

-Staring outside at the rain or snow.

-Laying down on the ground in the woods in the winter with snow on the ground.

Playing a round of disc golf by myself.

Wading down a river or stream while fishing.

Smoking a fat joint while doing either of the above.

-Runner's high. The relaxing things listed so far are way more relaxing after running a few miles and showering.

-Relaxing under a blanket when it's cold. Mmmmmmm.

-Playing a game or watching a movie after waiting a long time for it to come out, i.e. Starcraft2 or similar.

-Eating a perfect breakfast upon waking up, i.e. breakfast tacos with excellent hot sauce.

-Stepping through the front door after a long day at work.

-Sleeping in.

To think I was actually wondering if anyone would read this let alone share what makes them relaxed!!! ( :

I think I am gong to have to try some of these myself someday/sometime

Its kind of sad, but playing a video game does it for me, I can forget everything else and have no bigger worry than trying to capture some fake flags in a made up video game world.
