Ckeck out the corsiar 620w modular unit. Seems like a killer psu, made by seasonic, will probably be similar to the new m12 series. Sports 50amps combined on all 3 12v rails! wow! Don't waste money on anything else, this baby is $180 or something like that. All the power you need and more! Jsut a question, why did you go with s939 and not wait for c2d xfire or am2 xfire?

EDIT: Don't get 4gb of RAM. Get 2gb and upgrade later. It is a waste now. Welcome to the forums!:D

hey .. thanx a lot.. that was a lot of help... i was thinking of the thermaltake 750 watt toughpower .. or the enermax galaxy 1000 watt supply.. but these numbers for the corsair are very good too... as for the c2d xfire i had the motherboard and 1 ati 1900xtx since a bit now. and wanted to just add a little zip to my gamming.but this machine is basically going to be used to make music.. and thats where the 4 gb kicks in i feel.. have 2 GB already installed .. just bought 2 more...hope this will let me run a few more VSTi's hehe :) but thank you very much for the suggestion :)

no question that the corsiar is the better value.

EDIT: Hey, it's not like 4gb will hurt your performance!;)

Look for something with a combined max of at least 38A on the +12V rails. Also

dude no one recommended the 1kw galaxy. I recommended the corsiar 620w unit and you totally disregarded it. Way overkill.

Throwin' in another two-cents-worth today.

The "outervision" calculator is a marvel. At one time, I had to refer to listings of wattages for generic hardware choices and do the math.

You will only know for sure if you add up the wattages of your hardware choices or use the outervision calculator. All the hardware you mention is in the outervision database.

I'd pick a PSU wattage that provides for some reasonable "upgrade growth" without becoming unrealistic. So in my PSU choice, knowing I would have three HDD's in RAID5 and a hardware RAID controller, I threw in a fourth HDD. I also threw in a spare DVD-burner, a USB hub, and tweaked the "capacitor-degradation" and other settings as recommended.

I think the guideline is to go maybe 30 to 40 watts above your peak requirement. Very unlikely you are going to use all that hardware at once. And another thing to remember is that many power supplies become more efficient as usage increases toward PSU rated capacity.

The 600W Enhance from eWiz would be more than plenty - under $100 via Froogle.. Oh, well AFAHM...

Personally when it comes to PSU`s I throw price out the window.....
PC Power & Cooling or Zippy or Enhance is the only way to go.

If you have to do the PSU thingee on a budget Enermax is real fine as is Seasonic.
Fortron is good for the price but you can do bettr by spending an extra 20-40 dollars...

In the end what counts is 2 things....
#1-- Are you happy?
#2-- Are you willing to live with the consquences of your purchase if the PSU fries an takes other things besides the PSU wil it?

Who gives a fvck, he clearly isn't paying for all that hardware and neither are all you guys who tried to be cost conscious.

Perhaps he wants to leave room for future upgradeability, and cost is of no concern.

In that case, the PC P&C 1kW is your best choice. PC P&C > Enermax by a long shot.

Yeah...Unless you live on city of villans it's worthless. And will remain worthless forever you can almost count on it.

Should I mention City of Villans and that whole MMO is garbage? I think I will mention that.

how true. You want upgradablity? The corsair 620w has fricken 50amps combined on the 12v rails! When are you going to need that? Seriously, that is like quad sli #'s with a pentium d EE oc'ed to 4.0ghz, with some room to spare.
