Why not? The only other plane we have in service with similar intakes is the F-15, and it doesn't fly off carriers. The F-18 intakes are underneathe the front of the wing, and the wing flows smoothly into the fusealage, there is no abrupt angle like on the F-14 and F-15.
See, this is why in my first post I just said Tomcat. I knew Tomcat's flew off carriers, but I wasn't sure of their F designation (14 or 15) until I looked it up.
