CD-ROM, CD-R, DVD-ROM drives, 1 each in 2 years, but my old expensive (okay, it was $150) NEC 8X CD-ROM is still cranking in my linux project box.

Doh! More like 2 years or less.

The only piece of hardware that has ever crapped out on me was an old 2GB Western Digital hard drive. They replaced it in a couple of days and that was that.

Forgot to add that I have had one CPU fan fail. It had nothing to do with the dead CPU though. I also had on video card fan fail.

I've been building PCs for over 6 years and I would guess hard drives are biggest problem.

soundblaster sound cards seem to be the root of all problems for me. I am not trying to bad mouth them but they have been the cause of my system not booting up properly. Now, I must tell you that these soundblaster cards are old. I'm talking about before the Soundblaster live! series came out. I had one so old that there was a volume dial on the card itself.

Printers......OMFG I can't believe how unlucky I am with these bastards. I can put together a brand new computer in under 15 min but I touch a printer and somtihng almost always goes wrong, I've been through just about every brand.

NEC (2)
HP (3)
LexMark (1)
Canon (1)
Epson (1)
Dot Matrix no names (5)
-------------------------------
No Joke I've been through 13 printers! Guess my 14th is the lucky one it's a Lexmark 3200 I got for $20. Been working fine for over a year.....damn tho only one year!
