I have yet to fry a CPU or a video card, but I seem to have worlds of trouble with CD-ROM drives. I dont even use them that much, just seems all the ones I get die.

Me too, I am the proud owner of a busted $20 50x CD rom drive.

In addition, I had a busted 8KHA+ mobo which I RMAed. Other than that, hardware seems to like me quite a bit :D Not that much stuff fails on me.

I used to have a bad time with Hard Drives, but the past two years everything has been ok. Only lost a Sound Card and it just died, I didn't touch it at all ;)

wow, i've been through so much busted hardware (some my fault - fried a cpu and hard drive).

i would have to say - cd-rom/rw, hard drive, power supply, motherboard, nic - in order of most failures first.

never ever had a video card and that's a good thing 'cuz that's one of the most expensive component in my systems :D

oh, sound card's have always been fine, and so have cases :p

CD-R / CD-RW drives.

One 2x HP, my first one, suffered an accidential death by dropping.
Two 4x HP, first one died, got replacement from guarantee and it also died..
One 8x HP, my last HP for sure.
One 16x Plextor, got a new one from guarantee in 4 days, pretty quick.

They've been in three different machines, dunno what the hell I'm doing wrong with them  :p

Actually, besides those drives no other piece of hardware has failed on me. Isn't that strange? :)

cpu fan?..

im really not sure which fan it is.. it usually acts up whenever i turn on my computer... so i bang it maybe a half dozen times and then it stops.. i guess i should find out if it is my cpu heatsink fan.. :p that would suck if it was... oh well. i can always go with an upgrade to my duron 800...

that shows how lazy i am... it's been doing that for months now..

It's funny, but I've never had a single piece of hardware fail on me. I must be lucky

I bought 1 bad CD-rom from a computer show, had 2 floppy drives die on me. fried PCI port 2 on my mobo( I think my headphones plug was statically charged on the carpet when I plugged it into my soundcard, which is fine, but it's an SBLive:Disgust;) Had some problems with my mobo and win2k not liking my card configuration. Had probs with my harddrive, not sure if the controller is bad, might be the drivers. Had a bad nic...been pretty lucky...most of my probs are software/driver, misconfigurations..or ID10T errors :)

I've had 2 hard drives, 3 CD-ROM drives, 1 CD-RW, 1 DVD-ROM, and one case fan fail. Everything else usually gets upgraded before it can fail.
