What other techno songs can compare to sandstorm by darude?

check out any live sets from 1999-2002 or so by the big names. Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Oakenfold. Great stuff 🙂

Q: What other techno songs can compare to sandstorm by darude?

A: Almost any song is better.

Ok, seriously though, I like DJ Dean on the Tunnel Trance Force CDs, previously mentioned Ferry Corsten, and I also like DJ Dawn, you can pickup his stuff free online, tons of full CDs.

Sandstorm was one of those rare techno songs that became popular amongst the 'non-techno' crowd. It's not a bad one, but I still don't know what made it so good that it escaped.

Songs that should have been put on the same level?
Lagoona (Dead)
-Journey
-Into my Dream
-Promised Land

Cynic Project (Undead - The name continues, but the artwork generated is not the same...)
-Trance Generation
-Formant
-Trance Experience (Scroll down)
-Cherry Earth (SFW, but this link is only a clip)

NINA - Goddess of Trance (....hasn't died? Much to my surprise - she started back up.)
-Do you do you love me
-The reason is you

sector7seven (Dead)
-Don't Follow the Stream

Me & My (Dead)
-La La Superstar
-Dub I Dub (SFW, but your co-workers might wonder at what you're smoking)

Laava
-Wherever you are (Borderline NSFW)

Labworks (Dead)
-Ibiza Sunrise

Andain
-Beautiful Things (Thanks to pidgeon above for reminding me. Should have remembered this one. SFW)

Flip and Fill
-Shooting Star (Borderline NSFW)

Voodoo & Serano
-Overload (Borderline NSFW)

Robert Miles (Beware of site musics)
-Children (SFW)
-Fable (SFW, but your co-workers will know you're smokin' somethin' good)

Plummet
-Damaged (SFW)
-50 Ways to leave your lover

Perpetuous Dreamer, aka Armen van Buuren?
-Sound of Goodbye (SFW)

Iio
-Rapture (NSFW)

Miss Jane
-It's a Fine Day (SFW)

Aura
-Floating Space
-Kathmandu
-...
-I'd list 'em all, but that'd just waste your time here reading. Be sure to check the archives, too.

Bonus round - These aren't quite the big names as the above list, but deserve some attention:
Sven Hamer
-Zordariok

Lagoona
-Into My Dream (Acoustic / Bjorn's mix)

Go get Dieselboy - Dungeonmaster's Guide and The Human Resource (albums). That's some real electronic music, not that pop/bubblegum tech/trancey bullsheit.🙂

There are so many different types of techno and so many different techno artists that make both great songs and horrible songs that a recommendation is hard. My techno choice, however, is from songs that people make on depthcore.com. They're free legally, too...

What sites could I use to get some free music?

http://www.djdawn.de.be/ - has some of DJ Dawn mixes, mostly older ones though. Also not sure of the speed from there, its an old link I had.

You can probably find them on other sites, he published the MP3s online so they're free, if you can find them.
