What monitor do you have and how important do you think it is?

I never really thought about how important the monitor was till I saw the monitor I suggested my bro get for his new computer. He got a Samsung SyncMaster 753DF. The specs suck, 1280 @ 60 (like my old 15" optiquest) but it looks damn sweet. It's very crisp even at maxed out settings. 85Hz at 1024 is plenty, and it looks very very nice. And it's very flat. Damn, now I want a monitor like that. :(

What about you? Care about the monitor?

i have a 17" KDS monitor that pretends to be a trinitron but is actually curved like a mofo. Weighs a ton too.

i like it though.

19" Viewsonic PS-790, bought it used from a friend who bought it as a refurb from Viewsonic. It was made in 1999 and its still going strong. I usually run it at 1280x1024x32bit @ 85hz for desktop stuff, 1024x768x32bit @ 100hz for games.

Looks like I'm the only one stuck still on a 15". It's a kickass 15" monitor, but it's still only 15". :(

I'd get a nice 17 or 19" for my bday in April, but I need a 60+GB HD first (having 20GB with cable is killing me).

I've got a KDS Avitron 19" trinitron and I love it. .24 ag, max resolution of 1920x1440 at 60 Hz. I keep it at 1280x1024 at 100Hz and everything is just gorgeous. And the lines don't bother me at all.

I don't get it. Why do people get trinitron monitors and then just say they don't care about the lines? I saw a Sony trinitron monitor at my aunt's house and it sucked royally compared to the Optiquest's they had there (two of the same 17"s). Why not get a good non-trinitron monitor? What advantages do trinitron monitors have?

I hate my 14" crapper.
My 17" ain't bad.
My 21" Trinitron (Sun 20D10) is well worth the $15 I paid for it.

i think speakers are really important too.
i'd go crazy without a decent system hooked up to my computer.

and the optical mouse is an absolute necisity too.

I have a E200(a trinitron) and at first the lines killed me, but after a couple days, you don't even notice them.

I have a 15" UXGA laptop screen, it is crisp at 1600x1200 and I love it. the viewing angle is annoying, but it's ok (you need to adjust the angle or it's too light/dark sometimes)

DVD's look very nice ;)

Samsung SyncMaster 900SL 19". It's a pretty decent monitor, but I wouldn't mind one of those top of the line flat panels though.

I have a 17" Samsung SyncMaster 700IFT. It's a pretty nice monitor for the price. Love the flat screen.

I got the 753DF for TheBlondOne when I built her system.

I'm still stuck on a 15" POS. I have a 17" LCD on it's way to my house (will probably arrive today or tomorrow), but I had second thoughts & plan on refusing the package.

19" Sony Multiscan 400 PS. I love Sony monitors even though they are on the expensive side.

I don't care about them because I don't ever notice them. Unless you specifically look for them, they will only show up when you're displaying an empty MS Word page or other solid colours like that.

The perfectly flat screen is awesome. When I use non-flat monitors, it seems like I'm looking at a beach ball. Trinitrons also have the advantage of providing much more vivid colours than standard CRTs, but you do get a deeper black on regular CRTs than on the trinitrons.

21" ASTVision 20P It's not a really great monitor. It can't do 1600x1200 at acceptable refresh-rate (75hz if I remember correctly), so I'm stuck at 1280x1024.

1280@60Hz isn't suck...your eye can barely detect anything over 60Hz anyway, so who cares? Although I'm running 1024@75 on like a 13" right now and I can detect some flickering...and this thing is like 2.5 years old. Anyway, what's this about lines on a Trinitron? My local Sam's has them for like $150 and they were recommended to me by a friend who used to work for a digital graphics company and that's all they used - he didn't know the specs (anyone here know 'em? I'd like to know) but said they had a real flat tube and were great. Anyone know about the CTX Ultra Screen 19" That's what my dad has and it seems pretty nice. Not sure what the specs are. Ehh I was going to say something else that was mildly important but I forgot. Fark. Oh well.
