The problem with Palin is her ideology and failure to live up to the positive marketing of that ideology. It's not that Palin is a woman, mother, etc.. Those are positive, and a force of nature in the process of being expressed on this stage.

McCain picked her in part for her ideology, and the essential failure of that is what's hurting his campaign. If they had a better ideology, or actually lived up a fraction of the ordinary American ethos that they've been mouthing, they'd do much better and people would flock to the experienced white guy and energetic emblematic sidekick faster than they could pronounce Barack Hussein Obama II.

Nothing, which is why you don't see wingnuts in here and defending her.

Let's see...

Her convention speech drew 37 million viewers, almost as much as Obama's.

The VP debate drew MORE viewers than any Presidential debate.

She is drawing larger crowds than McCain ever drew by himself. Even after the insane beating she took in the press.
I don't think many candidates could go throw the amount of negative media attention she received and come out looking good.

She used to look good. Now that people have had a chance to look at her their opinion has fallen considerably, and by that I mean a lot.

And she's been tanking ever since, including in the eyes of many of better Republican minds who have publicly denounced her complete lack of qualification for the job.

Looks don't cover the damage she does to herself and the Republican ticket every time she opens her mouth.

Yeah, people did want to see her since she was an unknown who stood a very good chance of being VP. That explains her convention speech and debate numbers.
AS to the "negative" media attention, well, that's all her fault. If she could speak a coherent sentence in reply to a simple question she wouldn't have gotten negative media attention. It's not "insane beating" when a VP candidate can't name a newspaper she reads.

Funniest post of the thread!

While Palin gave an initial boost to McCain, she has brought him down even more than the bounce since then. She's now a "rogue Maverick", lol!

The Air Head has become more of the focus than old McCain, that isn't good for him.

Some say that the VP's most important job is to stand around and look pretty. Why not pick the prettiest candidate?

Palin is not stupid by any means, she knows how to play a crowd, deliver those snappy one liners, and she could have been an unmitigated GOP asset, except she does not when to shut up when she does not know something. Its appalling bad when Palin is less informed by than the average person regarding national issues. She seems to lack an analytical mind or intellectual curiosity, that tends to lead to a person who does not like thinking, which leads to a tendency to unquestioning adopt ideas, and finally to a person who has a hodge podge of beliefs that are not internally consistent with each other, and worse yet, grate like chalk on a blackboard with the average person a few times in any appearance. And Sarah Palin is just tone deaf regarding those chalk moments, if the ideas are good enough for her, should not they be for good for everyone?

Sure she's good at delivering one liners - that were probably written by someone else and drilled with her over and over again. But, she's NOT good at interviews. She's NOT good at debates. Sure she's good at playing the crowd, but that expression "empty suit" seems to apply far more to her "empty dress"? She sticks her foot in her mouth far too often during interviews.

BULLSHIT! The Vice President's most important job is to be ready and able to take over as President if the President can't continue to do the job.

Why not pick the prettiest candidate?

Because the actuarial odds don't favor McCain surviving even one term as President, and "pretty" won't cut it when the job requires smart and right. Palin is neither.

other than you think she's 'hot'.

persuade the Democratic members of ATPN with why Palin would excel at the VP position. I'm usually open to opposing viewpoints.

She is the most popular governor in the country, must have been doing something right.

She replaced a guy with sub 30% approval and at one point had an approval of over 90%.

Her biggest problem is that she wasn't ready to answer the tough questions about foreign policy that the media was going to throw at her.

But I guess if you started asking Obama, McCain or Biden detailed questions about a state budget they would have given the same non-answers she gave on foreign policy.

What an awful display of reasoning. Just because someone is popular doesn't make them right. ( For a sick brain )

And are Obama, McCain and Biden running for governor? No. So why would they need to know about state budgets? She wants to be the vice-president of the USA. She needs to be able to answer tough questions on foreign policy.
