When I was a sophomore in college, I met a guy named Andrew. He was a cool dude and had a sweet old red car (maybe a Chevelle or something). Anyways, we hung out a few times, usually just skateboarding. At some point we stopped talking and hanging out...our friendship was weird. I always saw him at the same time, and on specific days...had something to do with his class schedule. He was a real good dude and meant well to everyone.

He was killed driving back home one day a few years ago...his pickup (not his cool red car) crossed the center line on the highway. A semi hit him head on. I am guessing he was texting...hopefully not me...

That is what made me stop texting while driving.
That sounds eerily similar to a local college guy:(.

I can't text with my Droid2 cause it's heavy and award so I gave up on it. :p

Yeah. If I had a car, I couldn't imagine texting and driving with my X2 and its touch screen. Texting and driving with my BB Tour was easy.

I never texted and drove, because I'm not stupid.

I do, however, talk on my cellphone while driving quite often.

Probably when I totalled my car 4 years ago while texting. Haven't gotten a ticket since. I also stopped speeding. Go figure.

I wouldn't know since I don't even know how to text. The cellphone I have is only used for emergencies (if they happen) while I'm on the road.

My passenger commented on how I swerved all over my lane just looking down at my phone. That was my first and last time... while moving at least.

I never texted and drove.

I use to fiddle with an old classic iPod while driving. A had a few iffy situations with and just started listening to the radio.

You think you can but in reality you can't. You just haven't gotten into an accident because of it yet.

I haven't gotten near to being in an accident because of it, yet, because it's not a difficult thing to do. Nor is it distracting in any way.

Absolute bullshit. It is a distracting activity. I only hope when it finally catches up with you, you are the only person to suffer for your arrogance.

The fact that I can't see the road when I text was all the indication I needed that I shouldn't do them at the same time.

This. Tried doing it once and realized I couldn't do it. Looking at the radio while changing the station is one thing but this is like looking away from the road for several seconds at a time, repeated dozens of times.
